Overpriced Reloading Components?

The winning bidder had an A+ rating, but only one transaction to their credit. The other bidder had an A+ rating and 7 transactions completed. I look at the items that person won and $200 for 1000 primers, $90/lb for powder was common.
They'll change their name, etc. ea transaction (ea transaction thus being the "1st.") smh Buyer Beware.

I was looking at Swift online and they have nearly nothing. I have a hard time believing people are hoarding large caliber bullets but they must be. Hard running a business with nothing to sell.
Next question is when they do get stock is how many are going to hoard and drive them out again?
I know people with stocks of components that they couldn’t use if they lived five lifetimes because the can of powder they’re currently loading from is the same can they were using 10 years ago. ‍
My father in law and his big time prairie dog hunting (that's all he "hunts") buddy bought components and loaded some 30-40 THOUSAND rounds EACH of mostly 5.56 and .22-250 between 2006 and 2008 before Obama came into office. They did this because when Obama was elected he was going to severely restrict ammo and components. His buddy has a progressive loader. I'll bet they still have 38 thousand rounds left each and they don't hunt dogs hardly anymore as his buddy now has serious health issues. This is one example of that hoarding mindset and when you have money to piss away, this is what happens. Multiply this example today by the tens of thousands with this same mindset and they'res nothing left on the shelves or from manufacturers to buy.

Seen at Bridgeport Equipment and Tools in Marietta, Ohio this afternoon.
Jug of Reloader 26 and 17 are coming home with me. Not horrible pricing, no hazmat shipping cost or restrictions on how many pounds allowed to buy. Happy to find both!

Lots of people saw the writing on the wall before the pandemic really started rolling and got everything they could find or order. Can’t blame people for being vigilant and preparing for the inevitable.
Very true. This current shortage WAS/IS a perfect storm combining FEAR and the unknown with the pandemic, riots and Brandon being elected. I believe the ammo and component manufacturers put all their resources available to produce black gun, shotgun and pistol LOADED cartridges for the masses. They are playing catch up now with everything else and supply chain and available components issues. We are seeing that being more pronounced with the very small market for larger bore cartridges and available components. But, the question remains, how many THOUSANDS of .375 and up component pieces and boxes of factory ammo does one person need in their lifetime?

Haven't seen RL17 ANYWHERE in months. Great find!

Depends, some people shoot a .375 as easily as others shoot .223…. If things go south I doesn’t really matter what caliber gets flung at bad guys. Need becomes relevant when’s it truly needed and not wanted….

I was watching some Hornady 7mm 175 gr ELD-X bullets on auction at GB. Two boxes of 100, so 200 bullets in all. I bid a little over $200 or a $1/bullet with about 3 hours to go in the auction. Shortly after that, 2 or 3 fake or desperate buyers had a bidding frenzy and the final bid and shipping cost put the final price at nearly $600 for 200 bullets. $3/bullet!

Yep. That's why I have my Lott loaded down in the basement with 500gr Partitions and some 500gr Barnes TSXs. I don't have any solids for it though. I might have to switch it with my .416 Rigby loaded with 400gr Nosler solids. I need to figure out which cartridge/bullet would be best to take out the engine block of the "roving gang's" Chevy truck when they pull into my driveway bent on mayhem and destruction? I would like to see a test here of various large bore cartridges and bullets best suited to disable a gangs truck should the need arise. My AR would be "fun", but they still might be able to drive away and continue their rampage?

It’d be more effective to neutralize the injection system
Or carburetor than to punch the engine block. Most any medium bore with a well constructed bullet would do fine. Busting the BHG of the operator works well also.

The engine block will do just fine. It will give them time to get away from your driveway.
Actually, that's a MUCH better idea! Let their truck die a couple of miles away?

@CoElkHunter
For engine blocks 12 bore with Brenneke slugs then buckshot.
Take out the engine block and the bad guys
Save the 416 solids for when they come at you single file.

Thanks, when I saw these frankly I was stunned. Wish the price was lower, but after missing on availability on internet sites plus a one or two pound limit and hazmat costs, figured I was better off spending the money. Tons of high-priced factory ammo. Glad to see some stuff in the stores!

Bob,
I like the idea of the slugs followed by buckshot. And, with the solids, if they're single file you might get several of them with a solid? You could teach a course on "roving gangs pulling up in your driveway and tactical maneuvers to counter the threat"? But, where would your .35 Whelen fit in? LOL

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
