Tried it on the boat the data/cost ratio isn’t worth it. Around 300 dollars Canadian monthly for 50gigs of data. I’d probably make connectivity gains if I bothered to buy an actual computer as well but for me the expenditure isn’t justified I only routinely visit a handful of websites and until recently I’ve only ever bothered to post on one. Plus the annoyance of poor connectivity helps to limit my digital footprint. It’s been my experience the average person is far to invested in their online world while being simultaneously disengaged from the real one.
I’m talking about the plan for your home or a building, not the mobile system. Mine is $120 per month and unlimited data. Because I have the more permanent system at my home, I have then been offered the mobile system as an addition for less than $100 additional per month but I don’t need it.

What does Gates have anything to do with Apple or US factory assets in China?

Tanks, I know you are smart enough to know this is the truth of your conversation with him, although his response would be much more snarky...

Apple doesn't have any assets per se in China. As you stated, Foxxonn has built the factories there to make iPhones. Apple pays Foxxonn to manufacture the iPhones. Raw materials are either bought directly by Apple and shipped to Foxxonn or they buy it for Apple (not sure which).

If Xi were to nationalize the Foxxonn plant then all of those Chinese workers would be out of a job. But Apple would not be wiped off the map.

What if Xi takes the technology and factories then uses it to produce iphones/knockoffs they sell around the world; apple wouldn't be able to set up production anywhere else before China had already cornered the market?..... and the factory workers could not only keep their jobs but help fight the "capitalist enemies of China that have oppressed them".

Pretty good financial and moral swing for the CCP

Then again that's if things come to a hot war, as of now they are happy stealing intellectual property; they've been using the salami slice method of positioning the CCP take over of industry for some time.

Hopefully apple will make good on their $500B four year investment plan as I believe they have come to their senses about the future needs or lack thereof for 3rd world sweatshop labor with the coming advancements in both automation and AI.

As I understand it their main focus now is on the aircraft industry, they may be producing planes but all of the Chinese COMAC C919 aircraft still rely on the CFM(GE & Safran co venture) LEAP engine as they try to develop their own CJ-1000A engine. Their main obstacle as I've been told, is they can't figure out the metallurgy for the turbines to have the proper strength to weight ratio..... and they've tried every way possible to get their hands on the proprietary data.

We have no more business relying on China for our critical needs than we did in funding that damn bio weapons lab in Wuhan.

iPhones are made in China. But the iOS Operating system is separate. The phone is junk without Apple‘s operating system. China does not have access to that.

The Chinese owned smart phones are android

I think taking a sledge hammer to set a tack is foolish
I' believe is the approach our current administration is taking right now. My wife and I are democrats and feel that what Trump is trying to do is worthy
We just wish he would do it with surgical precision instead of the chainsaw approach. No one supports criminals and if he can truly reduce waste in our government excellent however I have no evidence he has been successful from a reputable source.

That is coming from the group doing the cutting. It has already been proven wrong multiple times. Give a source without bias.
Here’s a fun fact page about doge and the falsehoods presented on FB. Kind of comical

Your right it is interesting. Since they are sighting sources what makes them wrong?

I understand they may not be the real McCoy but the Chinese are already copying iPhones.
That’s there under the table work, imagine what they would do if the gloves came off?

They’ve already had fake apple stores in China for years, if shit hits the fan they would open shops outside of China in a heartbeat and probably already have contingency plans for it.

Has anyone seen the movie “ The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare?

An entertaining movie based on the WW2 mission that was declassified in 2016.
It shows how much we all owe to Winston Churchill and also the bond between our countries that we should not forget just because we have a current economic spat between allies.

I’m not sure if your numbers are out of whack, but I pay 147 a monthfor mine in AB. I’m not sure how much data we have, but my wife teaches online classes daily and we haven’t had an issue. I live half way down a coulee and my reception without it sounds about the same as yours.
