Politics

If it's true he contacted his Chinese counterpart and stated that if Trump were to launch an attack he would notify them, then I can think of very few things that would be more of a treasonous act.
If I had to seriously and without political bias judge the events leading up to January 6, Milley would not be the one whose actions looked most treasonous. It will be a generation or more before historians write dispassionately about this era.

Very low moral in the Federal Government, talked to my daughter last night that works at the CDC. She said everyone is scared to death about being fired. They spent yesterday and will spend most of today cleansing web sites of gender language, no more pregnant person and things like that while there is 3 new Ebola outbreaks. For the moment they have shut down all communication and work outside of the office. At least for her team and her teams focus are the countries of Ghana, Niger and Mozambique.

They have to write a justification letter that defends why their jobs should not be cut. I totally understand what the feds are doing but I hate it for my daughter, her dream has been to work for the CDC and Ebola since she was in the ninth grade. She has worked there for 14 months and her fellowship term of two years is over in October. Before then she can be fired without cause. I told her to show up early, stay late and do absolutely anything someone asks her to do. But a problem is the people that will write the recommendation letter is not on their team and they may never even meet the person..

That’s a long winded way of asking if any other federal employees see the same sort of things, low moral and the fear of being fired.

Interesting discussion on the Potomac crash with Senator Duckworth who was a Blackhawk pilot and severely wounded in Iraq in 2004 when her UH 60 was hit by an RPG. She lost one leg at the hip and the other below the knee. Unlike many, to include the president, who seem to have already determined what happened, she at least has relevant experience upon which to draw.

Thanks for sharing! Nice to have someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

Just checked the CDC website again............they are STILL recommending Covid vaccines for healthy 6 year old boys. And for 20 year old men. I challenge anyone to show me a positive Risk/Benefit profile for these groups. The CDC and FAA have helped censor ANY scientific discussion of their recommendations over the last 4 years. That has engendered a lot of animosity among the local medical community. There will be some pushback now.................FWB

Removing his portraits was adolescent behavior. The next president, republican or democrat, will quietly rehang them.

I wouldn't bet too much on that assumption if a non-RINO republican like J.D. Vance succeeds Trump....

If a democrat retakes the White House, whoever's portraits hang in the Oval Office will be the LEAST of our problems...

They hang in the Pentagon. Two of them actually. One with the former Army Chiefs of Staff and one with the former Joint Chiefs of Staff. Fortunately, I think all the evidence indicates JD Vance is far more mature and less petty than the current president. At least Trump won't be able to fire him once they have an inevitable disagreement.

No doubt the CDC along with other government agencies needs an overhaul, but to take a blow torch to them is a mistake IMO, but to take people out of the field that are diagnosing and trying to prevent outbreaks is also a mistake. There is a way to work this out but I don’t think an executive order is the way to go about it. As I’ve said before I loathe executive orders be it by democrats or republicans.

And here I am, hoping that Trumps 7 mo buyout offer will apply to DOD contract employees

Trump may be over correcting in many areas.

And in typical Democrat form. They light the house on fire then complain that the fireman damaged the lawn. And used too much water.

And then the media documents the damage caused by the fireman. Not context who burned the house down.

Ive talked to people working at multiple federal agencies over the last couple of weeks.. State Dept, FBI, VA, DIA, DOD, and a few others..

Low morale, despair, etc.. are widespread and rampant.. that said, the people that seem to be most upset and concerned are either clear DEI hires (not white, male, straight, middle aged, etc.. that are known to be poor to average performers at best.. that have been with their respective agencies for less than 5 years) or have been huge proponents of all the DEI crap (gender language, pregnant person, etc..etc..)..

Most of the people Im talking to (that are the opposite of what has been described above), are looking at the "Fork in the Road" email and giving serious consideration to their options.. most acknowledge that while they don't particularly like the way the email was worded, that whats being offered is a really good deal.. and they're also acknowledging that while they are understaffed in general, that they are overstaffed with people that don't actually do their jobs which makes things much worse.. if they can get rid of some dead weight, those left behind wont have to do their jobs and the jobs of the dead weight, and the jobs of the missing/unfilled positions.. they will just have to do their jobs and the unfilled jobs.. and things will actually get easier for them in time..

The way she needs to look at things (IMO) is... the last time there were 3 ebola outbreaks, people were busy adding gender language, pregnant person, etc to the federal websites.. they were equally distracted and just as poorly focused on the mission of their organization..

This transition period is going to suck... but its necessary.. ALL of our federal agencies need to get back to doing the things they are designed to do.. and need to get back to hiring the best possible people to perform those tasks as possible.. and stop all of the wasteful activities (like putting up gay pride flags at the US Embassy in Jerusalem) that take time, cost money, and pull focus away from their actual jobs..

Once all of the people creating the time suck and brain drain are gone (unfortunately Im sure some really good people will either quit or get laid off or fired in the process as well).. working at the CDC and other federal agencies should get much better...

Assuming she survives the night of the long knives that is surely coming to the CDC, the silver lining on that cloud is the job she has dreamed of since she was in the ninth grade will be BETTER than it would have been otherwise.. if she is a performer, that loves her work, is dedicated to the CDC mission, etc.. etc.. I think the CDC will be a much more fulfilling place to work.. where she wont have to worry about whether or not she "mis-gendered" someone, or be concerned about whether or not she has her pronouns in her LinkedIn profile, etc.. (all of the nonsense that's been going on in the fed govt for the last few years)..

They don't anymore .... ;)

These people that you assert are being victimized by Trump's so-called pettiness are the same people that tried to bankrupt and destroy him literally... They hate him for no other reason than his threat to their own agendas and egos... F@#K them and their portraits...!

If they let you decide where your social security would be invested most would totally mess that up and just crea more welfare.

I agree that that's likely. But that's on them. Freedom doesn't imply or guarantee safety, success, happiness or making good life choices.

I'm not ok with having my choices and liberties taken away because some other person or group of persons can't manage their own lives properly.

Well said @mdwest, while Caitlin was hired during the DEI era, in my heart I believe she earned her position. While at UAB she double majored in public health and Spanish with a minor in theater. Then she went to Emory and earned a masters in international public health.

I'm from the school that expects higher levels of performance from leadership. I'm also of the school that expects higher levels of accountability from leadership. They should be held to a higher standard.

Milley, as one of the highest officers in the military, defied the orders and policies of a sitting president.
I think he should be reactivated and prosecuted to the full extent allowable of the UCMJ in a military trail.

While he had a great career, he set an example that goes against everything the military teaches about leadership.

She is exactly the kind of person we do need in that organization!

I agree it's childish. Similar to Obama getting rid of the bust of Churchill.
I will say though, while I aspire to continue to mature, I still like dick and fart jokes and I kinda get a good chuckle out of little signals like these.
Especially when those doing the acts are so sanctimonious as if they're righting some great wrong by a petty act of disrespect with a statue or a picture.

There is little that Sen Duckworth ever says that I agree with or take much note of..

This however is one of the exceptions.. everything stated in that article is spot on, at least according to the FAA, ATC, and military aviators Ive been chatting with over the last 24 hours..

The time to finger point or state cause isn't a few hours after a crash... there will be plenty of time to do that after the investigation is well underway and facts become more clear..

The first 24 hours should be nothing more than condolences for the friends and family members of the fallen, and a commitment to investigate thoroughly and then let the American people know the cause, and what the path moving forward will be to prevent such things for happening again once the facts are known and the investigation is complete..

What the American people want (demand) right now is more honesty and transparency in government.. the government is about the only thing people trust less than the media at this point.. when a politician opens their mouth, no matter what side of the aisle they sit on, Americans automatically assume what they are saying is at a minimum partial truth and partial lie.. and when some speak the assumption is what they are saying is a complete and total lie..

Misstatements, even if said with the intent of truthfulness and honesty will only serve to prove you are a "liar" by the other side once evidence is there that what was said was incorrect...
Yes, Trump should stay off the TV except when necessary and should have just offered condolences.

I’m seeing him start to make the same mistakes he made during COVID when he thought he had to speak at daily news conferences. He gets off on tangents and starts bloviating a bunch of unnecessary, unintelligent nonsense and loses credibility. I don’t want him to hide like Biden but he needs to reduce his exposure to looking stupid.

I also see this in Trump offering back pay and former positions to service members who disobeyed a direct order to receive their COVID shots. It tells everyone you can disobey an order and then be rewarded for it. What happens when the immunization is small pox, anthrax, or rabies and they just do not want to take it?
