Politics

I agree that that's likely. But that's on them. Freedom doesn't imply or guarantee safety, success, happiness or making good life choices.

I'm not ok with having my choices and liberties taken away because some other person or group of persons can't manage their own lives properly.
Me neither but coming from a family of professional financial planners, I can tell you that most people will not plan ahead for their retirement and that’s why SS was started. One only has to look at the stories we have all heard about professional athletes or actors who go broke after earning millions of dollars. In addition, how many of us know people that spend nearly all their income on houses, cars, boats, etc… without contributing to retirement?

That’s a long winded way of asking if any other federal employees see the same sort of things, low moral and the fear of being fired.

Depends on the Agency. I have friends all over the federal government. There are certain agencies where the feds are almost giddy to go to work. Others have people retiring and walking off.

You gave good advice to your daughter, unfortunately there are a lot of politics being played, and usually junior employees/personnel have to bear the blunt of those games.

... Fortunately, I think all the evidence indicates JD Vance is far more mature and less petty than the current president. At least Trump won't be able to fire him once they have an inevitable disagreement.
If past is an indicator of the future then he'll most likely just encourage a mob to hang him instead.

I also see this in Trump offering back pay and former positions to service members who disobeyed a direct order to receive their COVID shots. It tells everyone you can disobey an order and then be rewarded for it. What happens when the immunization is small pox, anthrax, or rabies and they just do not want to take it?
I completely disagree with this assessment. Forcing people to take an untested, unproven, and ultimately unknown chemical into their bodies is VERY different than requiring established vaccines that has been around for decades. I'm not sure that rabies or anthrax are common immunizations either, but I'm not well versed in that field.

And it wasn't specifically an order, it was a line in the sand of "take this or be fired," which should never be the right of the employer to determine. To that end, I disagree that they disobeyed a direct order. They made a choice to quit their job instead of blindly follow the bullshit. It's a miracle there aren't trillion dollar class action lawsuits in play (and perhaps there are, just I haven't heard of them) against employers that made such a ridiculous policy.

I have taken quite a few Anthrax series along with rabies. Its not uncommon.

Storming the beaches of Normandy also impacted quite a few people's health and morale.......If you question smaller risks you will feel empowered to question larger ones when it matters.

While I don’t necessarily disagree with your assessment regarding the Covid vaccine, I would simply state the military is not a democracy, never has been, never will be. As the fictional Marine Colonel Nathan Jessup said, “ We follow orders or people die. It’s that simple.” :)

Seriously though, the modern U.S. military has always required vaccines for service members and It’s never been optional.

You and I have known each other for years. You know what I would have done if one of my soldiers refused an order. I would have crushed his soul and his lower appendages. Fortunately, I retired before I experienced woke politics, social media and Hover Mom children entering the military. I would have been up on Human Rights violations now for how I handled discipline for my men.

These self promoting political service members deserve a general discharge at best. If your physical and mental health is anywhere on your list of priorities, DON'T JOIN THE MILITARY!!! Besides, those of us that know understand that no matter what happens to you in the military, the VA will let you know it was not service related. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

May everyone have a safe and political free weekend!

While I'm against the covid shot being called a vaccine and all the lies that went with it, I agree with your point.

There's the ucmj section regarding unlawful orders but that's touchy ground and I'm not really sure where that lines up with the COVID shot.

Yup. Totally valid points. I just don't think it's the government's place to be their safety net. Also, because government is not designed or incentivized to do a good job of it.

Ordinarily, I agree that orders are orders.

In the instance of the covid vaccine - no. We were lied to about its safety in December of 2020. Anyone who understands anything at all about the way new drugs are approved knew it was a lie.

"Specialist, I need you to go wander around in the dark - no flashlight, no NVG, just wander around in the dark. There may or may not be a cliff out there you might step off of. See you at sunrise. Maybe."

The vax mandate for covid was just as pointless, and "sunrise" may well be 15 or 30 years away.

It isn't the known risks that break good men. It's the unknown and unknowable that do, especially when they're pointless. Just giving and following orders got a lot of men hanged at Nuremburg.
