I never much cared for federal meat inspectors that raised a bunny once in 4h and took a business degree ag collage or lumber inspectors telling me 3 1/2 x 1 1/2 is better lumber than I can mill myself at 2x4 because it’s got a stamp on it. But the world is what it is.

What do I know about lumber I’m only typing this reply sitting on the butt of a log watching a brush pile burn. View attachment 670715
Have about an eight footer (pile - not tree) that I need to light in the next couple of days. You have to admit it is a bit therapeutic. What is that white stuff?

How’d the stock market fair today?
Alarm bells started to ring for the administration along with Musk and Tesla.
Markets don't like uncertainty like the one Trump creating with his tariffs on tariffs off, thinking, maybe, etc..
He has no idea what he's doing and still his followers eating it up as a negotiating tactic.
Couple more days like yesterday will cause great damage.

I am rather startled by this interview. Cuomo was on point, and made Carlson look like a fairly uninformed purveyor of misinformation - and judging by my "expertise" in body language, and ever more uncomfortable purveyor of nonsense. Loved the you were the only journalist allowed into Russia inconvenient fact.

I'll have to look up the whole conversation to see if Cuomo tries to address the "not our fight" misconception with him.

The two places I feel most at piece in this world are on the butt of a log watching brush burn and on wheel watch when everyone else is turned in down forward.
Some nights I walk back on deck and look around. When there is not another light to be seen the stillness of the night is only drowned out by the soft hum of the diesel and you’ve stole another days pay from the depths of the Atlantic there is a feeling of peace which I’m at a loss for words to describe.

Tesla is up today....+ 8.68 (3.86%)
First jobs report of new admin out this morning, 10,000 manufacturing jobs added last month, estimates were only for 5,000
DOW is off slightly, NASDAQ up slightly, S&P off a tad
Guess, the sky is falling......

I will add that for the previous 4 years we have heard nothing but how WONDERFUL the USA job market was from Democrats; now that we have tens of thousands of federal employees out of work everyone is touting how tough the job market is.

What happened to the #learntocode campaign that was so popular when all those union rail workers and coal miners got tossed out on their ass?

You'd have to ask the Biden admin about that learn to code BS.....as to the current admin, it's been seven weeks, they are pruning out the drags on the economy (i.e. useless federal workers/programs) and incentivizing job creation that adds back to the economy (i.e. private sector jobs). Hundreds of billions in new investment announced by the private sector. If you were expecting a light switch flip to unscrew the mess the last administration made, you had too high of expectations....this is going to take time to turn around, but long over due changes are being made.

Yes SKY is falling for all of investors..
President Donald Trump's tariffs have spooked investors, with fears of an economic downturn driving a stock market sell-off that has wiped out $4 trillion from the S&P 500's peak last month, when Wall Street was cheering much of Trump's agenda.
You think this is chunk change?

What changes?
Another %50 tariff to Canada steel today?
I don't give a shit about that senile old fool but when do you stop blaming the previous administration?

Im headed to the property I hunt deer at this weekend to open up a couple of the shooting lanes a bit.. most of the work involves knocking down a lot of underbrush.. but there are probably a half dozen hardwoods that need to come down as well..

I cant decide if Im more excited about creating a better hunting spot.. or that I get to bring home a truck load of firewood for next winter..

greenies hate me lol..

The market is over 41.5K, down about 3K in the last several months....that's a correction/fluctuation...y'all are acting like it's down drastically, and it's not (-4.37% in the last three months). Trump admin just got it cabinet finalized, going to take time for things to move under their direction, but the sky certainly isn't falling and the markets are still at historic Highs.

I didn't blame the previous admin for anything, just responded to your learn to code jibe.....my response is still valid, if you were expecting a flip of a light switch type of change, you had false expectations. I'll re-evaluate things in about 8-12 months, once the new admin has had a chance to move things in their direction, but not after only 7 weeks.

What is the 24,000 per head number? I have zero dairy experience, but plenty with cattle, I but can't figure out what you are talking about. I would guess 200 head is an average size, so that there is some added cost of 4,800,000, for what?

Quota to sell the milk one kg of milk quota costs roughly 24000 currently. Which is roughly the amount produced by 1 milking cow per day.

Trump's latest on Canada and Tariffs. I know for many here, Trump's every utterance is like Mohamed quoting God, but you have to admit that this reads just the slightest bat sh$t crazy. I am fairly certain that Ford, and GM will not be dancing in the streets as their production is tariffed for sale in the US.

Pretty awesome when a single tweet can drive down the market another 500 points (and heading for 600).

I always wondered why Trump did this kind of thing....then watched an interview with Geraldo Rivera, who has been a friend of the Trumps for a long time, and he chuckled when this was brought up and he responded, that's Trump style, he does this on purpose, he's throwing over the top distractions to keep folks distracted while he and and his team does the real work to get where they really want to be behind the scenes. It's apparently Trumps style, according to someone whose known him a long time, and in this case often on the other side of the political isle. I started taking what Trump throws out with a grain of salt after listening to that interview, and from what I've seen the analysis appears to be pretty accurate. The MSM still hasn't figured this out apparently.

Should I bother to point out the falsehoods point by point or can we all just agree the only factual number in that post is the doubling of tariffs on Canadian steel.

Would love to see all the subsidies vanish....we farm citrus, no subsidies whatsoever, just crop insurance and pray for rain and no freezes....and of course high taxes and production costs. We have way too much gooberment involved in ag, with too much control.
The government pays about 60% of crop insurance farmers 40. This year I may take some and pray it doesn't rain. Then I wouldn't have to pay to harvest and leave it for the game. Win win. Woul hurt my feeling if they ended the communist farming

Yep the meat inspectors made it hard to run a small town meat processing plant. Just the big slaughter houses wanting it all.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
