Possibles Pouch

Yes, leather is definitely heavier than synthetics. However this pouch weighs in at about 10 ounces so probably won’t break the bank. I am curious now, do you use a synthetic belt or a leather belt?
It depends. I like the Kuiu belt because it is so light but I also use a buffalo leather belt.

His name is Steve and i believe is in NY. Awesome customer service and has quite a few examples on his page. Believe he can do up to 3 inch stamps. He sells all his stamps through his shop on Etsy….. https://www.etsy.com/shop/CustomMadeStuff

This stamp was mostly just for fun….I make and sell quite a few knives every year and love to play with leather. I love to learn new skills….I taught myself to make knives and now trying to teach myself leather craft. I’ve got a long way to go….can’t even keep my basket weave straight. LOL

Where you moving to?
Thanks for the information. I will give him a look.
Nobody can keep basket weave straight. It’s just a matter of how good you are at hiding the mistakes.
I’m just going to a more isolated, uglier part of Wyoming. Where I live over here on the west side has turned into a California Embassy over the last couple of years.

Well, I appreciate that but I have looked at your media and your leather work is outstanding.

Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer places to hide from growth and with it always comes someone wanting to take away our way of life. I’m in the timber business and in a growing area because of popular lake areas. All of the outsiders come in and try to change everything.

Thanks for the thoughts….next project is a hunting belt….I believe I may make one from canvas and leather. Good combination of weight and looks of leather.
That would be neat to have a handmade one.

For what it’s worth, I thought the same…..so, I’ve been working on a full suite of handmade ”safari” accessories. It is meaningful to me to have my own gear made by me. Of course, I’m the sort that renting a rifle would hurt my feelings as opposed to using my own rifle.

This is where I am so far…..

Very nice @CBeck ! Some better lighting and that picture could be in one of the Westley Richards ad’s! Very well done!

Very nice!

Have you made yourself a rifle sling?

And here it is finished up…. Hand stitch by Sir August Beckwith III or “Pithy” as he is affectionately known by his friends as he is seldom seen without his Willis and Geiger pith helmet.

Solid brass hardware.

That looks amazing @CBeck ! A gorgeous rifle sling !
(And great pictures too ;) straight from a luxury catalog! :D )

if you ever want to commercialise, I'm sure you'll find some offtakers here!

Thank you for the kind words.

Truth is that’s how I got started making knives. I made one for myself as a hobby eight years ago and now I have a back log of nine months worth of orders to get to.

The leather work has been a fun project and a nice break from making knives… Sometimes what should be a fun hobby turns into a grind.

I would be glad to discuss making any items for anyone… I’ve never been one to turn down work. Lol

I had an extra minute today so I decided I would start on a 2 inch hunting belt… @Philip Glass got me thinking about weight so I went with canvas and the leather… Truthfully I think comfort will be a big factor as well.

I was a little concerned with stiffness or lack there of so I doubled the cotton webbing portion of the belt. Glued and stitched.

Waiting on some fresh leather dye so I can finish up.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
