Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 404 Jeffery

I will take the rifle and all reloading supplies for your $2500. plus please supply me with Mark Banser contact information
My bad everyone TO BE TRANSPARANT… I am offering $2,000 for everything not $2500 my bad. I have sent a PM for $2,000. If someone wants to give full asking price of $2500 the gun with supplies is yours otherwise it is mine to play with

To all concerned fine sirs,
Rifle is 4 down and one in the chamber!!! Cartridge feed into chamber and extraction was smooth and without fail! Surprising given it is a factory magazine carrier with no attachment of the spring into bottom of stock or the missing bottom metal Ontario keenly pointed out earlier in the thread!
Shown now is the ported business end of the rifle and a photo depicting overall length of said barrel. One could determine about 1 1/2 inches port. Given overall length port could easily be removed and not interfere with proper velocity of the bespoke 404 Jeffery slugs!!!
Lets keep going!!
That clarifies things! I see Swift-Blackburn sells pre-64 Model 70 bottom metal in 375 @ $425 in the white. I was happy with 98 Mauser bottom metal I bought from them for my 404 project. Required polishing the machining marks on trigger guard and floorplate but still a lot cheaper than Sunny Hill ($700!). Here's what it looked like finished and blued.

Anyone interested in purchasing this firearm?

If I hadn’t already bought one this week I would be on this like ugly on an ape.

To be clear my offer was respectively turned down…someone will get a fun rifle to redo as you see fit in an incredible caliber. This will not list long at his price

A keen eyed slueth in the dark of night(myself) noticed there is no sliding rear v blade on the rear sight ramp. My apologies. I will do my best to dig one up that satisfies a would be buyers requirements!! If not consider it bargaining chips!!

Here are the components I have for the 404. The brass has only been fired in this rifle. Each case measured with a Hornady headspace comparator and resized .003. Each case then function tested thru rifle and cleaned in a walnut media and then ultrasonic cleaner. Standard DG stuff.

Even at the asking price, and one doesn't go Nuts on a stock you could find bottom metal EZ enough it depends on how much you like to scrounge (e-bay and other sources) Having reloading dies available is a big plus, a guy could come up with a very shootable Jeffery

My Jeff built on a Winchester 375 Donor action. The Super Grade stock I grabbed off E-bay right after I got sellers remorse after selling my CZ550

I noticed that but in the scheme of things it is relatively unimportant. Thankfully, both front and rear sights are screwed on so they should be easy to remove and replace. I have 1990s screw mounted Winchester Safari Express sights on both my rifles. Worked out well because the front sight ramp for 03A3 was too low and I was able to order a higher one from Williams Gunsight. They apparently made the iron sights for Winchester. Anyway, if the blade can't be located for this rifle, Williams has a variety of appropriate rear sights that would easily mount in one of the holes tapped in the barrel. An easy fix. Not so easy if the ramps had been soldered on!

Bullets or brass would be a bargain at $85 PER BOX. I recently saw RCBS 404 dies on an auction site for $350 (definitely not a bargain but there it is). I figure more than half the value of this deal is in the reloading components! Wish this had come up before I made my rifle.

It's an easy project for anyone who wants to build an heirloom rifle. All the hard stuff is done: bolt is bent, bolt face opened, feeding rails and ramp modified (a biggie!), safety adequate, etc. Bottom metal and stock need to be added/changed but that's an 8th grade shop project. It's a real deal with all the components thrown in. Anyone who picks up this package only has to come here for help finishing the project. Scores of us have done similar stuff and glad to help with all aspects. Myself included ... especially. Go for it. Make your monument.

I could use some of that Brass

Please note that the components shown are NOT being "THROWN IN"! Current brass availability is scarce as we all know!! There is 89 total pieces of brass!!! Some never fired and loaded, and some once fired and properly sized to the chamber of this gun. There are 335 bullets, many new in unopened boxes!! My intent was to provide a buyer a seamless way to make this rifle run and drive! I would guess there is about a grand worth of value here in the reloading components. The 25-30 loaded rounds let you shoot it today. with plenty of supplies to work up your own loads!! Just another layer if a deal was to be made on the rifle. As normal buyer would have first refusal on this stuff..

Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought it was a package deal at $2500. To add a bit more perspective, loaded Hornady 404 ammo is currently worth anywhere from $145 to $185 per box of twenty. I didn't realize some of the components were loaded cartridges.
