Predator Pictures

@Scott CWO ... It was tougher than it looked - two toes on a back foot: he had full extension. And I had a DIY release pole made of a piece of lead pipe and a 3/32 snare. I had to brace the pole against my hip to keep him at length while I bent down and released the trap.

Tough? No good sir. Just really young and super stupid. Sometimes those two work in the absence of tough.

Not a Hi mom photo but a sure enough apex predator very alive and unrestrained in the center this pic. I took it while two trackers, the PH and I backed up.... gingerly and talking gibberish in normal tone. Kind of an oh crap moment! Who knows what the real defense perimeter of this individual animal was. Range not over 20 yards. Maybe since we were in open and it was in thick scrub screen, it felt ok. But one step further may have been the trigger. Who knows. Thank goodness for sharp-eyed tracker! :)

^That was Africa fairly recently. Here's a Hi mom photo from 'back in the day' here in the US.
A large tom bobcat. I have quite a few hunting/ trapping/calling pics of foxes, coyotes, bobcats and mountain lions. Don't know why, but this is one of my favorites. Fur, particularly bobcat fur, paid for quite a few guns and trips. :)

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
