So in the thread “Best rifle for 458 WM?” @BeeMaa and I got into a discussion of the European vs American rifles and stood on our hill! Others like @Mark A Ouellette and @hoytcanon chimed in with their thoughts. All was in fun but something that @hoytcanon said got me thinking and laughing at myself but I know we are all guilty of it!
You see we all have preferences in just about anything in life! And we all then have pride in ownership or just our beliefs in our preferences. And finally we all will defend these preferences due to our pride!!!
Nothing wrong with any of that and actually variety is the spice of life! How boring would it be if we all agreed on everything and everything we had was exactly alike? Hell for boring that’s for sure! So there never really is a wrong or right but only what we prefer and have enough pride in that we defend…
So I thought it would be fun to give you some more of my preferences that I have the pride to defend and maybe some of you will share yours too?

Women - Latinas! Just love them lol / Whiskey - Bourbon / Beer - Mexican / Food - Mexican / Cars - Mercedes Benz / Trucks - Ford / Off Road Vehicles- Jeep / Motorcycle - Indian and Ducati / Rifles - well we know lol Winchester / Shotguns - Beretta / Pistol - Beretta / Revolver - S&W and Colt / Watch - Omega / HiFi - Marantz / HiFi Playback - Vinyl / Guitar - Gibson

These are some of the things I will argue are the best and will die on my hill defending :ROFLMAO: All are free to play along or opine…

Browning shotguns, Leupold scopes, Ram 4X4's, Hoyt compound bows, big lead slugs, true deep Canadian wilderness, Shimano reels on LaCroix rods, a pink & white 1/4 oz jig, a Snake Eyes 7 iron, an all-welded guide boat...

I am a simple.man.

Some good ones there Scott! My friend owns a 512 Testarossa, black with black interior. To this day that thing looks and sounds absolutely wild going down the street! Looks positively alien with it being so low and sooo wide!

I will have to agree to disagree on your watch and HiFi choices. Watch would be Rolex, HiFi would be Bang & Olufsen.

Hard to beat a good Lab!

I’ll stick with my Ken Isiwata Reference Marantz! I’ve had four Rolex’s now, sold a no date Submariner, gave another Submariner to my brother, gave a Anniversary DateJust to him too, and still have my Maxi Case “Polar” Explorer II … Having said that I’m not a Rolex fan boy and will stick with my Omegas. Better looking, better time keeping, tougher, and is Snoopy endorsed lol

I try to make fried chicken every Sunday, though it’s hard during football season lol

Growing up a kid on the block had a 69 Chevelle SS 396, everyone worshipped that car!

Preferred ATV for hunting- my own two feet!

Preferred big game rifles- original M1842 muzzle loading rifle and late New Haven Win 70 bolt. I DIY pillar bed all my big game bolt rifles. Ammo for ML- I cast my own Minies and only use real black powder. Ammo for cartridge hi power- I reload all my ammo and only use only use tough, premium bullets for hunting.

Small game rifle- very accurate Miroku 22 Win M52 Sporter.
22 Ammo- either Lapua or Eley

Preferred scope for all rifles- low power variable or fixed Leupold mounted with (front and rear) dual dovetail mounts. Some mix and match usually required. Goal: hunt close, shoot straight, shoot once.

Spotting scope- small, inexpensive 20x Bushnell

Binocs- 10x42 Zeiss, old 6x30 compact

Dog- 15 lb rescue Maltipoo

Car- 2015 Toyota Corolla that gets 45 mpg. Cost 12k used and currently has 90k miles

Pickup- 2014 Ford 3.5 FX4 that gets 20 mpg. Cost 22k used and currently has 90k miles

Whisky- very occasionally in small quantity, inexpensive Famous Grouse on the rocks

Beer- same as whisky- one beer occasionally either Modelo Negra or San Miguel- in frozen mug

Footwear- Bean med pacs fir mud or winter season. Courteney or Dunham light hikers dry season

Fly rod- several- I build my own using mostly Batson blanks. Preferred flyfishing- either high mtn streams or swinging leeches for big rainbows in larger rivers

Spinning rods- mostly inexpensive Shakespeare Ugly Stik. Good for use and abuse

Flyreels- several. For larger water/fish- cork drag Able and Bauer. For smaller water/fish- Ross and Teton

Spinning/casting reels- higher end Shimano, Abu Garcia

Footwear- Bean med ht pacs, Courteney, Dunham hiker

Computer and phone- Mac/Apple

Sound system- wired Apple ear buds or off-brand, blue tooth headphones

Music- anything that appeals to my ear. I do not like some of the more recent C&W at all! I detest rap

Movies- subjective… must have good story, good direction and good acting.

Rock on! I have a pair of knee high Bean Maine Hunting shoes I still use sometimes for fall moose.

Tall Blondes, Big Bore Double rifles, Spinone Dogs, Vintage Griffin Howe M98's, Land Rover Defenders, Russell Moccasin boots, HK sidearms, Schmidt & Bender Scopes, Lucas Forge Knives, perfectly cooked red meat, red wine, two hearted ale, and cold hard cash........I too am a simple man.

@CZDiesel - I appreciate your respect for me and value your views. The 458 thread is a good example of a productive discussion displaying our differences of opinion without being ugly. Cheers.

Rifles - Do I need to say it? Blaser R8.
Shotgun - Benelli SBE3 & Blaser F3. Still looking for a proper upland O/U.
Women - My wife of 30 years has auburn hair…so.
Prefer red South African tea over coffee.
Favorite movies - Star Wars, Full Metal Jacket, The Searchers and Unforgiven.
Hunting partner - Wife, because she has an eagle eye.
Favorite game - Waterfowl for the sheer volume and variety of species. African DG would a close second.

I forgot my baby! Yamaha Stratoliner Deluxe! I Crashed her in July in Nova Scotia, on my way to Newfoundland... I got cut off by a horse trailer... 17 broken bones and a collapsed lung, two weeks in the hospital... but I had her shipped home and restored her to her former glory... can't wait for spring, to do it all again!
