Proper Gin and Tonic

This is not my go to, but if you’ve read Ruark you’ve heard of “pink gin.” This is my interpretation:

In a whiskey glass, fill a quarter full of cubed ice, then fill another quarter full with crushed ice (that’s half full, for those of you in Rio Linda).
Add bout + oz gin
Top with HEB lime mineral water OR your preferred tonic water
Garnish with lime wedge
God bless Rush.

For a G&T I usually use 1 part Bombay Sapphire, 2 parts Fever Tonic & a big lime wedge. I always just eyeball it & enjoy it at whatever strength level its at even if I get the proportions wrong. Since I like Sapphire martinis with a twist, a strong gin drink is fine. If I'm mixing one for someone else it's about 1 part to 3 parts and then I let them ask for a stronger second drink.

Most of the gin I've been drinking lately has been Citadelle in a French 75 or a Tom Collins because that's what the some of the ladies in our social group prefer. I just drink what everyone else is having since I'm often the bartender & it keeps things simple when we're all cooking a big meal.

I gave Campari a try in a couple of Negroni cocktails & I can definitely say it is not to my liking. But vive la différence since I know it's a popular drink with some people.
Not a vermouth fan.

Gin/rocks, G&T, gin and campari, very dry gin martini, so dry that you just sorta wave a bottle of vermouth at it from 8 or 10 feet away.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
