Totally agree. Season 1 of 1923 was very good, season 2 has been utter pain at every turn. The villain is not compelling, he cannot decide what he should be: murderer, hospitality expert, sadist, philosopher, etc.
Meanwhile the Dutton's prove to deserving of death. They know their enemy, yet they all decide to bunker down or go out alone and get themselves murdered rather than just take out the villain. Illogical.
And if Spencer is this great war hero, why is he so incompetent regarding logistics? The guy can't seem to catch the right train, get anywhere on time, avoid trouble?
Lets all be honest, we wanted to watch Spencer struggle for a whole season to get home, then we wanted to watch him destroy all enemies foreign and domestic for a full season in a way that would make Rambo blush. We have two episodes left and it this point I think we're ambivalent whether he lives or dies, whether his wife finds him, whether he gets ambushed on the way home or dies in a blaze of glory.
Taylor Sheridan has deluded himself into thinking he's an excellent writer, but every time he fires all his writers and takes the helm, he makes garbage.
