Gentlemen:
If anyone can recommend a reputable gunsmith to re-chamber a 98 Mauser rifle from 9x57 Mauser to 35 Whelen please shoot me a reply or a PM.
Thanks

I know you asked for a gunsmith, but you could rent a chamber reamer and go guage and do it at home in 20-30 minutes by hand.

McClelland in Dallas can do the job easily (most reputable gunsmiths can)… but @CastShooter is right… this is a pretty easy task… I debarred a 8mm Mauser (vz-24) myself.. all you need is a barrel vise block (cheap on midway), and to rent a set of reamers and some gauges (also cheap), and you can do the job yourself.. I literally learned by watching a few YouTube videos.. and have rebarreled several mausers since…

FWIW my wife used the 35 whelen I built to kill her eland and several other PG… it’s a pretty satisfying experience when you use a rifle you built, and shoot ammo you built, etc on a hunt… and then watch everything come together successfully..
