Rifle: Browning A-bolt, reviews, opinions?

For those who doubt. Food for thought: I never sold a rifle, or a pistol. They just accumulate in my locker.

Then keep it!!!

Probably will and give it to a good kid I know that wants to start hunting. -A good friends son, he's 16 and a Right handed shooter... Rifle is RH and I'm shooting LH Rifles now... Although, that Browning killed a lot of animals being shot LH because it is so accurate. Rarely needed a follow up shot!

What caliber is it?

I’ll start that kid on Bob’s favorite .243…
@NIGHTHAWK
Please DON'T. At least start the poor kid off with something that will actually work. Something like the new 6.5 sweede aka 6.5 creed more.
At least he will have a soft recoiling rifle that will actually work on game.
Don't be a mean bastard and give him a 243. Get him a 6.5 creed at least.

Bob, he'll have to sport a manbun to have the 6.5 Crudmoor and drink Bud Light. Not so with a .243 WINCHESTER. He can sport a mullet and drink Bundy. LOL

@CoElkHunter
That would be better than hanging your head in shame saying you were given a 243.
Poor kid will need counselling for years to overcome the fact someone hated him that much

I'm late to the party. My .375 H&H is insanely accurate, like same hole accurate at 100m. The confidence it gives me is worth gold. It's quite a snappy rifle, I fitted a Fryer & Devik silencer which made it an easy shooter and didn't lengthen the barrel too much as the barrel mounts halfway into the silencer. As other have said the 60 degree throw is great, the big benefit is it keeps your hand away from the scope when racking. I will never sell this rifle.

My first center fire was a 243 Rem 788 and my second this A Bolt in 270. Just works!

Another one for the A-Bolt!

Anyone remember the muzzzle break the A-bolts had in the 90s that had a little weight you could move to tune the barrel harmonics? Can’t remember what it was called. I assume it didn’t work as I haven’t seen one in a while.

The browning boss system

First real rifle I purchased was a Browning A Bolt medallion in 300WM. Killed truck loads of animals with it. Has been going strong for over 30 years.

Hello there. I’ve been wanting to introduce myself personally & chat with you about hunting Nilgai. Give me a call sometime…

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
