Rolex- the stupidest, lamest company

@Siennacoyote - Congratulations!

Careful. They are like firearms, and you will have three before you know it!

I owned one Rolex and when I had to have it serviced I figured out I could buy a nice watch for what that cost and it never did keep time really well. Now I just stick with watches in the mid pricing range. There are some very good watches out there in the 1k to 3k range and even some good ones for less than that.

Rolex has to be the stupidest, lamest company I've ever dealt with. I want a specific Rolex for the wife. The conversation has gone like this:

[Big Rolex dealer in Boston] "I can neither confirm nor deny that we have that particular watch in stock," [he actually said that] "You'll have to come to our store in Boston to see if we have it." [WTF? He knows I'm in Louisiana. Okay so I'll try a Rolex dealer in NOLA, one that is part of a network of stores] "Very nice watch. We don't have it and neither do our other stores. we can request one from Rolex, it will take two to three weeks to respond whether they are wiling to make it or not, and if so when they will make it. Probably take four months or so if they decide to make it." [Double WTF. This is a watch Rolex currently lists on their website and they might not make it. That's crazy. And three other dealers essentially said the same thing. Rolex has to be the stupidest, lamest company I've ever dealt with.]

Glad I've never given Rolex any of my money, and never will. Oh, btw, I wear a Garmin Tactix Delta all the time, including when I'm hunting.
Get a Timex and you can't go wrong. They take a lickin' and keep on tickin'

Milgaus is a beauty!

Ii bought a new Air King from the AD in Feb. Just can't really fall in love with it. Going to put it on the chopping block and look for another GMT

i wore my explorer 2 while changing the front and rear differential fluid, transfer case fluid, engine oil and filter, and radiator flush/fill last week on my Toyota Tundra, then yesterday wore it gutting a nice Minnesota whitetail. 15 point non-typical. takes a beatin’

My wife bought me a Rolex (her family was “fancy” while mine was “farming”) after our fledgling company made its first profit, in 1997. We were literally pretty broke, then. I was so mad that she spent that money on an expensive watch, that I put in in a drawer… and forgot about it. 5 years later my trusted G Shock watch died. Knowing I needed a watch, and remembering I had a new watch in the drawer, I pulled the Submariner from its slumber. I wore that watch daily for about 20 years- and beat the dog out of it, and it never let me down. A few years ago (2 more Rolexes later!) we put it on consignment with our jeweler to sell- watch sold for 2 1/2 times what my wife paid for it (within 3 days). I wish all my other tools performed and retained value like that goofy watch. I’m just saying!

Out of interest why did you sell it....pissed off with the wife again?.... :E Big Grin:

Dang it....Just can't decide between the all black GMT and the Batman. Had a black GMT previously, loved it. The Batman has more "pop", but will it look great long term?

Batman ends up being my "dress-up" watch, but it seems a little flash, personally, for daily wear. Ended up with a black Ex 2 as a daily and the Batman. No wrong answers here. A good friend just bought a nice vintage, all black GMT and it's stunning. That could be the one watch answer.

my black Explorer 2 is my daily driver. I took the oyster bracelet off and found a fitted leather strap which I like. Makes it very low-key.

Agreed. I went with a NATO to keep it low profile. No one even notices it's a Rolex.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
