Ruger Safari Magnum .458 Lott For Sale

NICE! You are gonna love the RSM! We can also play 458 Lott at PSC and piss people off!

Congrats to both buyer and seller!

Now I must apply for an exemption to my rule...no cartridges born after 1957.

Rationale will be this is a rifle which is no longer made!

The .458 Lott is basically a .450 Watts Magnum (which was born in the early 1950's, so you're good). ;)

Saved by a technicality! I see the potential for a dangerous new pattern here :sneaky:

Congrats, Tim! Taking this to the BVC as a back up to your 470 NE?

No plans yet for 2019.

But there may be another hunt in the future that this rifle would be perfect for. Hmmmmm.........

Welcome to the .458 Lott club Tim. It is a great caliber. Yep it kicks, but not all that bad. About the same as the .470 NE in a rifle of decent weight, which, if I remember well, the Mk II RSM, is at 10 1- 1/2 lbs, and that it a good thing.
Beautiful rifle, especially the barrel with its integral quarter rib with NECG express sights, barrel band front sight and barrel band swivel mount. True CRF too, integral scope mounts, 4+1 capacity in .458 & .375 if memory serves, and OK safety (although not quite perfect), a lot to like, and I personally like the really beefy stock too. You will see, the recoil lug arrangement is a bit complicated, but it works. I have never seen or heard of a report of a split stock on a RSM...
Congratulations!

...and which basically duplicated the .450 NE ballistics, themselves being a replication of those of the .450 Black Powder Express. So by extension, we can wish tarbe a long life and many more rifles because there is a rationale to consider the 1870's as the true start of the clock. Looks like there now CAN be a .416 Rigby in Tim's future LOL :)

PS1: just beware that dog-leg bolt handle knob when you shoot Tim, it has been known to really hammer the trigger finger...

PS2: and the stock can really use a 1" decelerator pad with a 1/4" spacer (or two) if you scope the gun. You want that ocular faaaaaar forward...

I had a .416 Rigby before I had a .470 NE...I think I still need to play with a .404J, but that will have to wait for now!

I think we have enough members to start a "RSM Club" now......

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
