looking at buying a Sauer 100 rifle but know nothing about them about quality or anything, does anyone have any hands on experience with that rifle caliber 9.3x62. I know the cartridge is a very fine hunting round but the Rifle? thanks at lot James

I have a friend with one in 9.3 its light & recoil is savage , my son has one in 6.5 PRC & 30/06 great rifles
for the money, very popular in Australia. Rumour has Early models had a pressed fit bbl & now have screwed in bbl i do not know if that is the case.

I had one it was very accurate.
Shot the 286 Hornady SP factory load very well.

However, I was not in love and got rid of it quickly.

it is too light weight. It’s not even walnut on the wood stocked model. The recoil would flex the stock and the cheap plastic magazine would fall out of the gun upon pulling the trigger (which is a nice trigger to be fair)

It’s just a cheaper made gun. Hence the price…
I would get one in a smaller caliber for a nice useful gun to beat up.

I got rid of mine in 9.3 pretty quick.

The barrel is a thinner profile and the rifle overall is very light. LOP is 14” which is perfect for me but not for others. Aftermarket stock options are very limited but WOOX makes a great one that is worth it (from reviews not personal experience). The trigger is adjustable and was amazing for what it is

Ive owned a few of them and they have been great rifles. Id say that if you want a threaded barrel get a factory model that has one as the receiver has a stud coming out of the bottom that makes it so a gunsmith would have to handthread the barrel instead of using a lathe. That is something I have personal experience with

My son has one in 6.5 Creedmoor and has used it to take PG in S. Africa and plenty here in N. America with an Axis deer being the largest. He has also hit steel at 1000 yards with it.

I personally think it handles very well, meaning quick to shoulder, etc... I love the short bolt throw which I believe is 60 degrees.

I also do agree with the wood version being "cheap" (ours is a synthetic stock but Ive handled the wood ones and they seem to be that "pressed" wood or whatever) and the mag being plastic is the one thing I would change. We do have some 10 round mags for it though which is cool, especially when hog hunting.

Overall, I think for the price it is a very good value and would buy one again. I would probably not buy it in 9.3x62 though as Id prefer a controlled round feed (if you are to hunt dangerous game) and a high grade wood stock. Cheers

well I went ahead and made the purchase and it is not a bad rifle the wood stock is Beechwood a dense hardwood. the stock shape I really like but the length of pull is 14.5 and has a hard rubber pad. the pad will go in a couple weeks and the stock will be shortened for a LOP to 13.5 inches and a decelerator pad installed. the trigger was heavy but with an adjustment was at 2.2 lbs and crisp no creep. it would be nice if the magazine was metal but the poly mag is fine and does not fall out on firing as was reported by another. it is a light rifle and recoil is heavy with Hornaday 286 gr loads and Big Game powder at 2379 fps. will try AA2700 next and see if I can get to about 2450fps before moving to Hammer bullets 258 gr Stone Hammer. the only thing I will do next to it is have the stock Hydro Dipped with a Burl Maple color the stock color is ok but dress it up a bit and get the bolt jeweled. Topped it off with a Leupold 3-9 scope and wish I could take it to Africa in one month but to late to change the SAPS permit.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
