Searcy Nitro 577 Express would like to sell

Thank you!! Butch did, he was so nice and very helpful. He said the gun is worth $60k, he said in this economy I should ask for $30k and see what I can get. I'm kinda in a loss of where else to post to possibly sell, so if anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Thank you!

You could try Champlin Firearms in Oklahoma. They have an exceptional reputation in the double gun world. According to their website, they charge a 15% consignment fee.

Where is the gun located and can be inspected?

One can order a brand new Heym 89B in .577 NE for either less than or close to $30K, so I would think Butch is exaggerating the value of his product.

I'd give you $15K for that rifle in a heartbeat - but couldn't live with myself for cheating you so much! The starting price on a new one WITHOUT the side plates is $25K.

Plus the fancy wood, engraving, and what looks like an Americase case. That is exhibition-grade wood and full coverage, extensive engraving. I was a member of the Firearms Engraver of America (FEGA) for over 20 years and the engraving cost alone (depending on the engraver) could rival or exceed the cost of the rifle, and that's not including the wood upgrade. You have an extremely nice rifle. Unless your Dad was very unusual and had this rifle restocked and engraved AFTER Butch made it, he can most likely tell you what it cost new and give you an idea what it should be priced at now.
Call him at 760-720-6131.
Let us know what you come up with.

New to the forum so didn't see the updated message. I totally believe the $60K original price. Like I said, the upgrades on the wood and engraving are what put that price up there. I think $30K sounds very reasonable. You will find folks have strong opinions as to the worth of various brands, not unlike arguing about Fords and Chevys. It's a beautiful rifle and I'm sure it was your Dad's prized possession. Since you are inexperienced you may want to sell it on consignment with one of the gun dealers that specialize in these types of rifles. They have the clients and traffic for this type of rifle, or maybe even better you can sell it at auction with Rock Island or Morphy. I've had good luck with that. You can set a floor on the price, and a rifle like this will probably get a full page in the auction book.

Hey Zanner42!

Do you still have the rifle for sale??? After thinking about it I'm interested but have others I'm looking at and need to know if you are still selling. Thanks!

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!
