That's correct, 8mm is as large as we go on that bullet type.

I am going to see if my LGS can order me in several boxes of the 9.3x62 as I love hunting with my CZ 550 FS. Can you tell me what the FPS are in that load?

Any chance S&B will make the 7mm SPCE bullet available for reloaders?

No plans to do so at this time. Demand for loaded ammunition still exceeds capacity, so everything goes into internal production. We'll have all copper XRG SPCE loads out this Fall. I'll be shooting it for the first time next week. Looks promising especially for the European markets where lead will be banned in the not too distant future.

Tango, maybe you can tell me I my M77 has great difficulty loading the 173gr 7x57. leaves witness marks of the riffleing on the bullets. also hard to remove, the bullet did stay in the case so powder did not go every where. loaded and shot some S&B 140 or 139's great.

@aandy767 it sounds like you have a short throated 7x57 akin to a 7-08. It probably was made for 140gr bullets. You can have the throat lengthened so that it shoots 175gr bullets.

I interacted with a Magtech exec that personally liked 7x57 and used his influence to get S&B 175gr Nosler Partition Ammo imported. Do you import that loading any longer or offer any other 7x57 loads that use bullets from the industry at large? (E.g. not bullets made by S&B)

Sounds like a throat issue, may need to check the throat depth to see what’s going on there.
I use the 8mm 196 gn spce in my 8x68 and they are silly accurate, same as my friends 308with the 180gn spce factory loads

Yes sir, that's me. Unfortunately, we have not been able to get the Partitions any longer at a reasonable cost after all the freight to export etc. I'm using my stash sparingly as it's my favorite. Everything we load currently uses an internally produced projectile. We do have a new copper solid HP coming out this year called the XRG Edge. It's 150gr in 7x57. I'm not typically a fan of copper bullet performance in small-med calibers (due to limited expansion and upset) but this SPCE type profile completely changes the way to bullet upsets. I've been using it in Europe for a couple years in 308 and 7x57 and it's devastating. Not a high BC, long range bullet, but out to 300 it's excellent.

I really hate handloading, but I want a heavy-for-caliber round for Africa and North America. What would be your advice to the forum for those with similar preferences?

P.S. - I know its asking a lot and it would cost a lot, but the world would be your oyster if you'd offer Swift A-frame loads for 7x57. The world has gone mental for 140gr bullets and many of us want that 175gr with a tough jacket so the 7x57 can box above its weight class.

This is why I have an irrational hatred for the 7mm08. It "should" be just as good as a 7x57 but almost all of them are tuned for 140gr and short throats. This infection in design has effected many of the newer 7x57 / 275 Rigby rifles, neutering their storied "super powers" and turning them into "meh" guns.

I think Franz Davis just sent his Highland Stalker out to have the throat lengthened to overcome this modern design flaw putting the weapon back into the original design that earned all its accolades.

TLDR; don't get a short throated 7mm.

S&B is decent ammo but I prefer Federal American Eagle and Speer Lawman. The reason the specs look hotter for S&B pistol ammo is they do their ballistic testing from a 6 inch barrel where almost all American manufacturers use 4 inch barrel.

SPCE is great projectile for closer range hunting, which is typical in Europe. I find it to be quite an accurate bullet as well through my No 1 7x57. I have a Steyr Scout in 308 that loves the 150gr SPCE. That's been a great eastern whitetail round for me. The bullet was developed to punch a clean hole through the hide allowing for great blood trails. It cuts a wadcutter-type hole though the hide while expanding like a standard soft point. The guys I hunt with in Czech Republic love it for wild boar hunting.

Thank you!… I have always wondered why the step in the bullet profile; the wadcutter comment made perfect sense.

Yes, I agree on the heavier bullets, especially in 7x57. We're always looking for another option there, but the costs to export/ship bullets have gotten out of control the last 3-5 years. Then figure in the increased powder costs that have hit the industry and prices become tough to manage. Freight costs in general have gotten brutal. The other issue is the coming lead-based ammunition ban in Europe. It's coming and it makes development on any new, lead core-based product (especially a product where you're going to sell most it in the European market) essentially pointless if you want to do it on a large scale.

I am not using the 7x57
But I bought a 6x5x55 and it liked the s&b sp 140gr I bought a case of it
Have used it on a few deer and hogs in fl
It’s worked grate and been a little over a in from a leadslead and bench
It perfect for the 250yd and less spots I am using it.
