Looking for an outfitter with a lodge that can accommodate myself and perhaps one or two additional hunters/observers for roughly 14 days early September, in the Limpopo region. Pickup and drop-off from Johannesburg airport. I do not mind if there’s other parties at the lodge during my stay, as long as my party have its own PH, tracker and truck.

At this time I am not looking for trophy bulls, more of an all you can shoot kind of hunt for varmint and management. Baboons, warthogs, impalas, zebras, wildebeest, etc. Spend the day from 9 to 5 driving around the bushweld with a bbq lunch and see what pops out in front of us. Hoping for a few kills a day if possible. I’d like to take home at least one zebra flat skin and some assorted horns/skulls. Some days could be spent driving places and seeing neat things rather than hunting. This is my vacation where I want to relax, have good meals, good sleep and just be thrilled about how everything is different from where I live. Good times with good people.

I’ll have my own firearm and ammo, will need import/export broker for the airport. Will also need you to help procure a suppressor for the hunt and have a suitable firing range to zero the rifle after fitting the suppressor (up to 200yds). Bonus if you have suppressed rifles for hire as I may want to switch things up throughout the stay.

Budget is around $5k USD per person, open to offers and suggestions.

Thanks,

David from Canada

Is the $US 5K just for daily rate?

And "all you can shoot kinda hunt".....

I like your thinking, but….

IMO, 14 days on a 5K budget is asking a lot.

Gotta start somewhere tho. Good luck.

In my trip this August, I had a 9 days hunt all inclusive in Limpopo for $1200. Shot 2 zebras and one impala plus a few varmints for an extra $3700, and that was trophy pricing, not culling. I was part of a party of about 16 hunters, hunting 2 on 1. Following that pricing, that’s less than $1900 for 14 days and $3100 toward culling. As I said I don’t mind sharing the lodge with other parties if it help keep the cost down. Also not looking to be hunting everyday. 10 days just go by too fast for vacations and it’s gonna be my first birthday over seas.

Doesn’t hurt to check what’s out there and as I mentioned, open to suggestions. If I want to go every year or two, i have to keep a budget, even if it’s only hunting pigs and varmints. Just want to shoot something and enjoy the scenery.

I thought I made it pretty clear. Not looking to pay tourist pricing.

The morning chill goes away around 9am and the sun starts to go down a bit after 5 at that time of the year. I have eye condition that makes it painful to look at the sun even with sunglasses, so I don’t want to be hunting as the sun sets and glares at you. I also want to be back at camp and have time to shower and have a drink before having dinner at 6:30 then hang around the campfire till 10. I enjoy slow mornings, no need to be out there at first light trying to get a monster trophy. It’s vacation for me, I’d rather do that than going on a cruise in the Bahamas.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
