You will be losing a lot of floor space. I think 1/2" plywood would be more than enough. I have backed sheetrock and thin paneling with 1/4" plywood and it's plenty strong enough to hold up my mounts. One of the fellas at senior center here in Montana told me yesterday over coffee that he just paid $132 for ONE sheet of 3/4" good-one-side fir plywood. Good grief!We have discussed this before…I am starting with 3/4 inch plywood on all four walls then sheetrock so I can hang mounts anywhere without worrying about studs.
