Show your work horses and bubba rifles

Not a beater but rather a good daily driver. Pre “64” model 70, stainless Lothar Walther bbl, Pacific Research stock, cerakoted, in 338-06.

Cerakote over stainless is about as impervious as it gets. Unless you get into more recent coatings.

Hunt anything, your daughter shows very good form. Great follow through.

My Blaser R8 wearing a synthetic stock is impervious to virtually anything and what I use where the elements or terrain can be challenging. This one is currently set up with a Success stock, S&B optics, and 257 Wby barrel. It can just as easily become a .300 or .375.

Thanks for posting!

An R8 bubba gun. Wow. Your swather must be a BMW? :D

This is the Springfield 03A3 my dad and a coworker sporterized back in 1962. It became my gun two years later when I was old enough to hunt. Shot this bull with it in 1980.

The next year my horse rolled on me and I had to restock it. Until recently it looked like this.

A few years ago I rebarreled it, changed the safety and striker, added iron sights, upgraded the scope and rings, and had it reblued. Getting it ready for the next generation

Thought about restocking it but decided to keep the old one. It has stories to tell.

I Bubba-ized both my go-to shotguns. Bought this 870 Wingmaster magnum nearly new from a HS classmate in 1968. It broke down two walnut stocks before I switched to synthetic. Had to retire it years ago when I was having retina problems.

Then I bought a 1972 Browning A5 Magnum Twelve (with later Miroku barrel) and also used up the wood on both ends of it. This is the gun I now use for everything: waterfowl, uplands, skeet, trap, and clays. Someday I hope to shoot a turkey with it.

Good honest use. Cannot argue with that.

I want a time machine!

Sherman, set the Way Back Machine for the year 1939.

But why, Mr. Peabody?

Why, to purchase a 10.75X68 Mannlicher Schoenauer for $175 USD, of course!
Now, get a couple of Series 1934 'C notes' from the safe and let's go.

Can we get a .30-'06 Take Down Model for me as well?

Only if you're a good boy, Sherman. A very good boy.

Here is my bird killer. Browning Citori 3.5” magnum. I bought it soon after the 3.5 came out. It’s on its third finish, factory, parkerized and now cerakoted.

I can remember as a kid in high scool 1960 -61 there was a magazine called Outdoors it was all about Shooting , fishing, & hunting it was full of stories of Buffalo Pig & Crock shooting in QLD & the NT it also was full of adds for guns of that era i use to read it in class & Teacher took it off me, i dreamed about that stuff & neglected my school work.

Gentlemen, I am disappointed in this thread!
There are no bubba rifles here!
All fine working guns!

Definitely a bubba rifle: my sporterized Carcano with an improvised ghost ring rear sight and front blade made higher with JB Weld. Still, it shoots very well and has been 100% reliable, and I have no qualms about it getting rough treatment afield.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
