Another reason that many Texas outdoorsmen carry side arms. A dose of snake shot to the head slows them down a bit. But a bullet to the head is DRT, whether .22 or .44.
I will always remember one of my best shots was with my .22 rifle putting a hollow point into the head of a Rattler coiled between my older brothers feet. He did remember to say thank you.

Western Hognose Snake (I think it’s a Western). Sent by a friend. I’m told some people used to call them “spreading adders” lol and said they were deadly haha.

Took this picture of a Rough Green Snake this morning. We always called them “grass snakes”.

That's why I hunted RSA in April. Cold enough so no snakes. I hate the damn things.
I don't know about that. The outfitter on my first safari killed a cape cobra a week before we arrived in the middle of May.

April should still be hot enough for any snake to still be out in South Africa

Luckily, I've never seen one--and don't want to.

This year it’s been fairly hot in the Thabazimbi area, so during our hunt in May we bumbed into Black Mamba and Puffadder in the veld while tracking Zebra.

What months of the year are too cold for snakes in RSA?

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.

I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).

Very interested.

Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?

I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
