So I just told my wife.....

Mike, pretty sharp!!!

Moving up from us bolt trash, huh.:(

That B&M is sure going to get lonely being replaced so soon.:)

Explain to her that life is all about choices. Let her know she can choose to let you shoot a double far away at a range, or that you can play a double at home, at night.

Let us know how the conversation goes.

You first!

The .458B&M is going nowhere, it will not be replaced.

Expressing that I need a DR is far and away different than actually procuring one.

Okay, new plan.

I schedule a surprise vacation to France, no kids. That'll soften her up in a big way just to start. After a week or so of touring the countryside and fabulous French cooking, we take a tour of one of the many vineyards/wineries. After a great lunch and a few tastings with a bottle or two purchased, we just accidentally come across the Verney-Carron factory....... she'll be helpless......she won't possibly be able to say no to me ordering a DR!

youll let her shoot it????

Years ago, while I was still living at home, dad ordered a .50-140 from the Sharps factory. He gave them repeated instructions not to leave any messages on the answering machine, but apparently they did not listen, as mom came home from work with a message waiting that the gun was ready to ship. Dad got his rifle, and mom got hardwood floors, its all about compromise!

Phil first it's your fault that I am now the owner of a 458B&M:) Second why di your say you need a double what you should have said is "Dear there is an opportunity to look at a couple nice double rifles and after our trip to ??? I will look at them for a possible safari." Now you said doubles so when you come home with a little one IE 9.3x74 and a 450/470/500NE class stopper as the second double. You just smile and say your were suffering dehydration from to much time in the sun in Hawaii. Then when she gets mad you can say my friend azdave has 4 doubles and she will blame it on me:p Your problem solved!

Awfully complicated Dave, but if throwing you under the bus will help.....

That I need a double rifle.

mmm hmm......:A Popcorn:

Phil,

My wife really isn't into hunting, guns, etc., like I am, in fact she could care less about it. I myself did the same thing several months ago, and she nodded. For several days, she didn't really say much, and then out of the blue one night sitting on the couch she asked the dreaded question......."So how much does this double rifle thingy cost....it sounds expensive?" I tried playing coy, and blew it off pretending I wasn't sure I knew what she was talking about......Finally, when I swallowed really hard, and then fessed up.....she knew she had me.......and the trap had been laid.......She then goes back to reading her magazine, and just non-chlalntly says "Hmmm...."

After I came clean, she really didn't have much to say for a few days, and I being an idiot thought I'd come out of this whole "procurement" relatively unscathed....and then she sprung that trap she had so expertly laid. Just when I thought I'd made it free and clear, she says....."You know, I've been thinking, and I really think I need a new SUV.....the one I have now is getting old...."

I don't know why I even pretend that we're in the same league when it comes to negotiating..........:(

I wish you the best.......

thump,thump,oh well.

@sandman0921, "Hmmmm" isn't even a word, but it speaks volumes!

WOW, What a GREAT reply, wish I was smart enough to think of that on my own!
Buy your Double and have it sent to Hawaii or Vegas, then take her there ona vacation and pick your rifle up!!

Win - Win!!
Uhmm I think Win for her...you'se gonna have either a long walk or swim home!

Uhhh...A small flaw in your plan....they ain't that stupid! As soon as you mention "no kids" and "wineries & vineyards" her next sentence is "your buying a gun aren't you!"

Likely......(n):(

I think the vacay to France, with a stop by the V-C factory is a great idea. Please report back if it works, I might have to add that to my play book. Plus, tell her it is cheaper to pick it up at the factory.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
