It's a darn shame that your dad can't go along, but age comes with a cost. My suggestion is that whoever isn't on the rifle should be taking photos and/or video of the safari. Not just hunting, but camp, travel, etc. Then do a good editing job and put it on the television where your dad can watch as if he had been there.

I would not be surprised if a moderately used large caliber double rifle comes up for sale here soon. Watch for it. No one should go to Africa without a $20K gun. Just not done.
