So.......what COMPANIES do you dislike?

GM (Government Motors) They lost me in 2008

I lost respect for Remington
I like Weatherby, Ruger and Winchester, never had a problem with their customer serice
I don’t know what to think about Powder companies. They all seem to be a hit and miss proposition
I’ve gone over to purchase, boutique company, bullets. Most make a good product and are more dependable on producing product.
I could be wrong, but I think the problem with a lot of well known brands is they have been bought up by large conglomerates.

Well, we've done firearms and calibers............so, what companies do you dislike, for whatever reason. I have three (at the moment)

Remington: I've never seen a company that loves to take something good (or in some instances, great), and turn around and cheapen it to the point where it is worth it...........welcome to Remington arms. For the record, I have several older Remington firearms that I cherish hunting with, but the stuff they are putting out now.........it's pure crap!! Plastic parts which were formerly metal, the break easily and replacement parts that are way too expensive for what they cost to make............it's almost as if it were planned. No thanks; newer Remington firearms will never find a place in my gun cabinet. They also have decided to quit supplying reloading components, which has left me in a bit of a lurch. Guess this is what happens when a good "family" business gets bought by a "conglomerate".

Hodgdon Powder company: Hodgdon powder company bought the Winchester powder line and the DuPont powder line.........then promptly discontinued many of the offerings (as well as some of their own) without having ready substitutes or data. Then they made the "big announcement" of "new" powders, which they promptly discontinued after about 5 years (once people had bought the stuff and worked up loads for it). When they came out with their "new" data book, I bought it, thinking that there would be new loads for the new powders. what did I find? Data listing all the old powders which they discontinued over 20 or so years ago! don't bother to complain; they do not reply. In addition, the powders that they supposedly do still manufacture have been off the shelves for years!!! They really do not know how to treat the people that are their "bread and butter", nor do they care. I guess military contracts are worth more than sportsmen and women.

Alliant Powder company: This is the company that I hate the most! I hope it goes belly up and its CEO and board members rot in hell! Last year, Alliant decided it would no longer sell to the general public. It wasn't really a surprise, as just about ANY Alliant powder was impossible to find! I started reloading shotgun shells using green dot, red dot, Herco, Unique, and blue dot. When I started shooting handguns, I added 2400, and when they came out with STEEL, I started reloading steel shotshells and hevi shot in earnest. When they brought back their rifle powders, I started using reloader 7 and Reloader 19......now to find that all the money I spent on working up loads using these powders is now useless and obsolete! I'm glad I loaded up a TON of steel shotshells, because STEEL was the ONLY powder that gave good performance in a nontoxic handload.........and now I'm left in a lurch if I wish to load any more.
Oh, and don't bother to try and contact them............as with Hodgdon, they don't give a damn about your opinions or concerns............its just crickets!

So how abought it..............now is you time to vent!!! What companies do you hate?
Sorry to distract from the original topic, but would anybody here happen to know if Rem Arms is currently actually manufacturing any new firearms at all ? Like the Model 700 or the V3 which they list on their website but nobody seems to own in recent years…

Kind of an opposite to the thread topic. I have a good customer service story to share.

I had a Nikon scope that I bought in 1995. In 2018 it fogged up and I went to buy a new one. The gun shop owner said he thought there was a lifetime warranty. I didn't have a receipt and he said he'd like to fill out a form and send it to Nikon. About 3 months later I got a package deliver from Nikon with a brand new scope of equal/better quality than the one I had.

I just wanted to shed some good light for quality customer service.

There are plenty of companies out there I don't appreciate, thank you everyone for pointing them out. I agree with every ones posts. It is surprising how similar our experiences have been.

Cheers everyone! Its Super bowl Sunday and I don't have to watch the Vikings lose another one.

The list is long and distinguished but the one I despise above all others is Elliot Management. That is the Paul Singer hedge fund that forced the sale of Cabela’s to bASS pro.

Apple.

Iphone starts to $hit the bed at a certain point despite software upgrades and eventually will not hold a charge. Why can you not get a replacement battery? It's basically a monopoly.
You can.......

I blame Bass Pro...
As stated, BassPro/Cabelas. Poor selection - pushing junk self branded products. Few quality national brands. Retail stores now just glorified flea-markets. Once incredible displays areas now trashed with sale racks, etc, So sad.
Cabelas and Bass Pro are quickly becoming everything that is wrong with a company! It's about nothing more than miximum profit!
Bass Pro was an Chinese trash dispenser from inception targeting the lowest possible outdoors enthusiast common denominator. When BP bought out Cabelas, rather than maintain an upscale brand, they pulled it into the basement with the rest of the garbage.

Spot on

You can.......
Bank of America. I've had several accounts over the years and every time they screwed something up every month so I had to go in and straighten it out.

The VA. I hate the way they do everything they can to delay, stonewall, deny and flat out refuse to handle a claim. Then give some bureaucrat in the outfit a huge bonus.

My pet peave with Costco is they will carry something for awhile and when you get to liking it they stop carrying it. I've suggested they install diesel pumps but they always come up with some excuse why they can't(won't).

Yes, Rem Arms still makes the Model 700. Lots of them for sale locally. Don't know about the V3 shotgun. I bought mine a few years back. I really like my V3 @7.25lbs.

Nike, Costco…at the moment but the list has grown to a point I cannot remember them all. Bud Light, NFL, NBA….got to stop before I go on real rant… NASCAR….
100% man

Any anti hunting tree hugging company….and a few airlines that can also go and get a great black dog shoved right up em o_O
……..you did ask:LOL:

Agreed, and one of the reasons I loved DSC in Dallas for the gear manufacturers on site where you can get a hands on quality check as well as size and fit.

If you ever find yourself in Australia, I always pack light out and return with a full load of quality outdoor gear. That big damn island has such varied and extreme climate, every area has a boutique manufacturer of the best quality gear on earth.

Especially their custom Ute set ups

Even the foreign made gear that is available being largely made in Vietnam or other Asian countries and the quality is leaps and bounds ahead of the China crap forced on us in the USA.

Especially the water fowling gear

The Cabela brothers would roll in their graves if they saw what happened to their company. It happened immediately,

At the same time, they should have had a better perpetuation plan in place rather than selling to who had the most money when they are old.

Dick's Sporting Goods
REI
Subaru

Hypocritical, virtue signaling companies thatbwork.against gun owners and hunters.

+1
What is worse is Bass Pro has recently re-examined their company and doubled down on having the cheapest stuff available. They think that will reach the most people. Their new purpose statement confirms this mindset.
TOTALLY disappointed in Penn reels--they are discontinuing carrying spare parts for all older models as they formerly did for decades. Disappointed in newer Abu Garcia since they were bought out by a conglomerate that cheepoes every product line under their control. It is called Pure Fishing--if you have even two brain cells left you will avoid anything they manage. Only consolation? If you search online, you can find upgraded bearings, SmoothDrag washers etc. for virtually anything you own--often upgrading it to better than new.

BTW, anyone notice companies like Blue Bell ice cream cutting back on quality of ingredients? Had some of the best ice cream in years during the Super Bowl. It was HEB chocolate covered truffle. So good my wife won't even let me buy any--too dangerous.

As an advocate, I have had EXCELLENT service from Columbia sportswear. They replaced an older Gortex coat that started to leak YEARS after I bought it. I have bragged on them since they did this against my wishes--I only wanted to know what they recommended for me to seal a seam. Nope--send it in and we will send you a new one.

Johnny Morris might be a fine fellow, but, IMO anything that Bass Pro acquires quickly turns to crap:

Cabela's
Mako boats (made the best offshore center console, prior to 1995)
Ranger (used to be the best bass boat) - I doubt it now
Hatteras Yachts (You got to be kidding!)
Islamorada Fish Company - 20 year's ago you you could get a dolphin lunch basket for $7 at the actual Islamorada Fish Company, now it's a stupid gourmet restaurant inside some BPS's - with fish that haven't seen the ocean in a decade.

Islamorada, FL has fallen off a cliff since BPS bought out Worldwide Sportsman.

My input would be LVMH. Stands for Louis Vuitton something something. They own a tremendous amount of the luxury brands and pull in huge profit margins.
The individual companies can be better or worse but generally underpaid employees in less than ideal conditions making mediocre products for crazy prices, relative to the quality.
This isn’t uncommon for a lot of the popular luxury brands though.

Also I’m not a fan of Glock out of all gun companies but no company or their product can be perfect.

I am a fan of Glocks, for what that matters.

IMO, they are the AK-47 of pistols.

I've never used a more reliable pistol.

I read somewhere that tax savings basically paid for that purchase really quickly;) I can see how such things happen. Then a successful business looks at efficiency of scale. Buying deals get renegotiated with the sudden increase in volume. Some suppliers get on board, others do not and in the tough World of negotiating, bluffs get called and some miss their bet. Or some don't wish to play the new game.

Lots and lots of different ways to do business. Many successful, some less so, some not at all. I personally do not like the Bass Pro stores nor their business model. But I do admire a successful business.

I fully agree they had two distinctly different store types and could have leveraged that.... They chose not to and that is the American way. We can also choose to participate or not.
