I hate cell phones ! How the hell did everyone get on before they were invented . That would piss me off if they were going off during a hunt . Dont blame you getting pissed off . I have never been guided or hunted with a PH but I would have said something .I couldnt help myself after paying so much to hunt with them .
dory l don't know what it like in nz , but here and what I seen in Africa, its the same thing , everywhere you go some one is talking into one , txting or typing an email on .
I hate mine ,too but its the first thing l look at when l get up in the morning . on the hunt ive not seen a p,h use it or tracker for that matter . but in the car , blind.or once you have an animal down
its common .
personally ,my self I leave the bloody thing in the car .
but mant don't .
Glad it didn't turn out to be a complete fail. though not the norm, we would love to see some pics of the animals you did take and hear about the hunt itself.
Thanks you for the hunt observations, there are many ways to skin a cat. The main problem with your outfitter is how do they expect to get a recommendation or return hunters if he or she didn't meet expectations the first time around? If a client is happy then all is good for the most part.
Auction hunts vary greatly, have not had a bad hunt where the PH was was the owner operator, but when I bought a hunt from a large company that had a lot of freelance PH,s that had to supply their own vehicle and fuel and hire their own tracker the pressure was a lot more. The outfitter wasn't at any of the lodges he had booked, he met me at the airport and said this is your PH he'll take care of you from here on out. Whereas owner outfitters/PH,s are with you the whole time and have more of a personal stake.
Hi Roklok
I read your post on Caprivi. Congratulations.

Thank you / merci

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!* Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.
I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
