SOUTH AFRICA: First African Safari With Gamka Safaris

Looks great, well done. What rifle were you using and what sort of distance are shots taken at?
Thanks Kevin! I was shooting my left handed M77 Hawkeye African in .375 Ruger with 235 grain Barnes TSX. None of my trophies enjoyed that combination! Furthest shot distance was 297 yards on the impala, and shortest was the warthog at 40 yards. Average on all was 220-260

Congratulation. It looks like you had a great time and took some great trophies.
Have you decided where you’re going on your next safari?
Out of curiosity, what rifle and bullets did you use?
It was an amazing trip, and I’m already dreaming up my next trip! I will definitely go with Ken again, and add to my list for maybe some of the color variations in Springbuck/Impala (saw some very nice black ones), Lechwe, and Waterbuck. Would definitely like to get some first timers to go with, and experience it with them too. I went by myself for my first trip, because of the nonsense we’re all living through, and definitely would have enjoyed someone to share the experience with. 375 Ruger with 235 gr TSX

Congratulations. I have not hunted with Ken Whiley, but got to spend some time with him in camp a few weeks ago. He's a straight up good guy and a pleasure to get to know.
He’s not only an amazing outfitter, but just ends up being that lifelong friend when you’re done!

Congrats Patrick - Beautiful animals! Glad to meet up with you in Joberg airport and visit with you!
Great meeting you too Josh! Glad you had an amazing hunt also. Enjoyed getting to spend time with, and getting to know you! Here’s to crossing paths again!

Awesome Patrick, that is a helluva black wildebeest!!!

Here’s a little better view of his bosses!

Congratulations, nice trophies!

I thought so Patrick, shots tend to be further in the EC and the Karoo, quite challenging.

Just got home from picking up my mounts from Jeff in Salmon, ID. Couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Spent the weekend getting them hung up, and counting down the days until I leave for my next trip! May 3rd to be exact. I guarantee where my next trophies will be getting sent. I haven’t seen a better representation of African game than from the outstanding fella that mounted these. I know there’s a few other members here that can say the same. Thanks again Jeff, I can’t recommend you enough.

My list consists of: Nyala, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Steenbuck, Red Hartebeest, and Gemsbuck. Maybe an Eland, which would finish off my Spiral Horn list….already there, so I’m not going to do it any cheaper! Really excited to be going back. Our group has some interesting tastes, as one of them will be Caracal with dogs.
