I'm looking at booking my first trip to Africa and it seems like African Sky is a good bet with most of the expenses bundled together in one package. I did a search here and couldn't find anything so I was wondering if anyone had used them and what your experience was if so? Thanks!

I'd tell them here what your looking for. We have a lot of great people and a lot of great places to visit.

Almost any outfitter will create a package for you. Just ask.

Don't know African Sky, other than the guesthouse.

Where did you find them Jake?

I have not hunted, or have any knowledge of African Sky Hunting. I did look at their package deals. They are OK. However, you will find many outfitters that offer similar packages. Quite a few on this site, also many have are already very well vetted.

I did a Google search for hunting in Africa and it was one of the top results.

Spend some time researching. You have now found an excellent resource with which to educate yourself on hunting in Africa.
Have fun with the planning.

Welcome to AH:S Welcome:

Spend some time reasearching AH sponsor outfitters. There are some very good outfits here that will accommodate just about anything you are looking for. Have fun!!!

Jake...the African Sky I found is a photo/tourism outfit, not for hunting. Are you wanting to hunt?

Their (AKH) pricing seems to me a little on the high side for the trophy fees, just IMO. The ship and Dip pricing from Capricorn seems very reasonable.

For example, I paid:
Daily rate 450
Kudu 1500
Gemsbok 800
Blesbok 370
Springbok 350
Impala 400
Waterbuck 1500
Hartebeest 900

All but the Impala were SCI bronze or better and the Kudu & Springbok were Rowland Ward - no up charges.

Good advise! Lots of crooks out there but there are genuine folks too!
What trophy are you looking for?

Regards

Lot's of great folks that are sponsors right here! Contact a few and tell them what your looking for. Ton's of hunting reports on them will most likely be here for your review.

They do both touring and hunting. My wife and did a photo and hunt safari with them our first time to Africa. They do a really nice job. They are more pricey than other outfitters. Just got back from Paw Print safaris last week. Pieter does an excellent job and the food and hunting were incredible. Our second trip with him.

Their website seems to be the best put together out of the outfitters I've seen. Glad to see someone has some first hand experience with them. Would you go back to them, given the opportunity?

Yes very good website probally the best. I would go back given the prices fall in line with most other outfitters . No complaints

@JakeH
I have hunted with them twice in the past and still have a friendly relationship with the office staff and outfitter. Give me a PM shout if you like and I will be happy to fill you In on them.

Yep they do both. In fact, their photo tour safari business is every bit as big as their hunting safaris.

Hunted with them in 2016. They don’t own any concessions and it is better to skip the middle man and book with the game farms direct. For their freestate package go straight to Witkop Safaris and cut a deal. Witkop is wonderful. I hunted last year in Limpopo with Africa Hunt Lodge. Comfortable lodge with superior trophies at the lowest prices.

Africa Sky is booking agent. They own no concessions. I hunted with them in 2016 in Freestate Province. The concession they booked was Witkop Safari. It was a fantastic hunt and the owners of the lodge were real jewels. You can contact Witkop via their web site and get the same deal as Africa Sky because you cut out the middle man. The style of hunting is on open plains with rolling hills and some mountains. I took a Black Wildebeest, Blesbok, Springbok, Gemsbok then added a Red Hartebeest because I got my package ahead of schedule. The lodge was plush and rooms were 5 star. Food was out of this world. I had Wildebeest filet and Gemsbok strudel that was to die for. Witkop has no warthogs and Impala are poor but if you want Gemsbok, Black Wildebeest, Blesbok, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Eland this is the place. Kudu are not plentiful and if you want big Kudu you have to hunt Limpopo Province anyway.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
