SOUTH AFRICA: Two Brothers And Two Double Rifles

Indeed, very helpful shop assistant as well.
Yes, great people but not being allowed into the humidor/ cigar area from April 1st ? That’s a great date to implement something like that :rolleyes:Fabulous selection there. We are going to Amsterdam this Saturday to visit Cigaragua and Hajenius.

just one correction for myself and for the story, but I believe the snake to be a boomslang that has the the grey color variation , I thought it was a mamba but we later found one at the lodge that had the same color but was for-sure a boomslang , maybe someone on the forum can give their opinion as well that knows snakes a bit better than me?
Henry, looking at the photo of the snake again I think you are correct I did not see the head in that much detail as it was difficut through the branches and it kept moving. But from the photo the head is not coffin shaped the eyes are large and are very forward.

So from that I would say boomslang with the colour of a mamba.

Yes, for sure like a Jack Russel we said hunt you said lets go at night around the fire after dinner you went to bed but was ready for action next morning early. We walked miles and miles of Africa trying to connect with an impala ram that just didn't want to show or present itself on this hunt.

But we just kept hunting hunting hunting. Long days and having more daylight helped and then of course the breaks we had in the day when it did rain in daylight.

So just like a jack russel happy to be out the whole time!

BTW how is your dog doing after the sable incident?

Wonderful report and a great adventure. I'm happy to know there are hunters in Belgium. I lived there for a while many years ago but never met a hunter. Are you from the French or Flemish side? I lived in the Nivelles area.

Very nice report @VertigoBE, congratulations to you and your brother.

Hi @BryceM, there are about 31000 hunters in Belgium, so little less than 0.3% of the population.

I’m from the Flemish countryside, close to Bruges. But have been living in Brussels for the past 19years.

What brought you to Belgium?

Congratulation on a great hunt. I've been waiting for your report and photos since you sent them to me via WhatsApp. Real question is when's your brother going back?

Haha, at first he was saying (due to cost etc.) this will be my only safari for the coming 5 years or so. But in messages with @Frederik yesterday, he was already starting to crack and might consider going again in a closer future :)

So from my side, Mission Accomplished! I've brought another 'brother' into the Africa Hunting world!

And I also still need to make a short film with some of the shots and action from the safari. There were some nice video moments too.

We’re all here to encourage it
