going to take 2 suppressors to the East Cape so thought I would fill out the 1140-0010 import form. well, just learned that you will have to watch your ATF approval paperwork with your stamp on it. the 2 suppressors I bought from the same place entered my trust name differently on each one and they were kicked back. so I had to fill out the paper work with the first line in section one exactly as it appeared on each one. the issue is the company added Jr. to one form and left it out one the second one. got a reply within 15 minutes they received them 2 copies of each now just need to wait for the approval to be sent

for those of you wanting to take your suppressors to Africa and are concerned about the import/ export form the ATF wants you to have #1140-0010 here is my update: after messing up the serial number and not noticing JR. added to of the the trust name I got the paperwork straight and on 11-4 emailed it in (they require 2 copies today I received both forms back approved so no issues with customs if they happen to have some new agent trying to make himself a name , all is good for next April just going to wait till after January to get all the new 4457 forms done

Was this necessary or you wanted to be extra safe? I thought most just included it on their 4457 and traveled with their tax stamp since it’s not a permanent export?

I just wanted to have that little bit more safety. I have just put them on my 4457 and have never had an issue but the State Dept considers them a military munition's item. also wanted to see what would happen as last year my friend was turned down 3 times on his paperwork with no explanation why and I was approved, I just wanted to see what would happen.

A lot of people do that. Legally it is not the correct way to do it.

I took mine to Tanzania in July and just put it on my 4457. Customs couldn't have cared less in coming back through Atlanta. Only thing they checked was the serial number on my rifle. Neither Ethiopian nor Tanazanian authorities cared about the suppressor. Only the rifle serial number and number of bullets I had.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
