Swift 280 Rem Load Data

Thanks Sgt,

Yes 1 moa and 3100 would be fine. I can usually achieve 1moa or close on my hunting rifles.

With practice I hope to improve my technique and get consistently under 1moa on this rifle. I think it has potential and I want to improve.

I have a Speer book not Nosler. The Nick Harvey book shows .280ai win760

I have 101gn and 120 in the cupboard

I guess I'm interested in people's thought on this.powder, 7lb will go a fair way but it's probably worth turning over as it's not currently imported. ADI will be our main line up in the future I think.

It's a rifle I had built, it's a lightweight and might shoot better than I can. I originally hoped to put a .2.4-12x50 Swarovski on it. The idea was for one rifle to be as versatile as it could. My Hunting and shooting conditions vary..

I won't get to do anything for 2 weeks now.
I'm with you for the small bore stuff. Speer should be fine. Seems kinda weird to me that they'd recommend load data for gilding metal bullets over monos like Barnes.

I've SAF 160 and Oryx 156 gr to start reloading, will be using IMR4831. I figure if I can get 2850-2900 and sub-MOA, I'll be in good shape.

Yeah Sgt Zim, I dunno.

There are 2 Aussie bullet makers doing what I guess is a similar concept.

Outer Edge Projectiles and Atomic 29 projectiles.

I know some Aussie s here have experience with either or both brands.

I used Outer Edge in .308, must have killed pests dead as I don't recall a bad experience, picked up one box in my travels. If I doubted them I would remember. I'm getting better at keeping records now.

Hammers are getting a lot of mention on another forum , then they also have their own. Gonna try them asap.

Nosler has its load data published for free online. Here is a link for 280ai- https://www.nosler.com/280-ackley-improved
Cheers,
Saved the data.
I also have 100gn Hammer 7mm, to try. It's all in fun but hope to put some on game.
Hoping the Mono type bullets are not to tough on the little critters like foxes. I think they will hammer pigs.

After over 30 years of using my beloved .270, this is the first victim of my newly built 280 AI. It is a blacktail deer and a nice specimen indeed. This was taken with a 160 grain Sierra spitzer. I'm still working on loads and eventually will migrate over to the 160 grain Nosler Partitions as Nathan Foster speaks highly of them in this caliber. He also spoke highly of the 150 grain partitions for game up to 400lbs.

760 is a good powder but a dirty one. It can get very temperamental at higher pressures. I don't know how temp stable it is.
I would sell it off or trade it for some adi, but that's me

Chris a 100gn Barnes TTSX out of my 25 at 3,600+fps is very effective in small goats and doest tear them up.

Bob,
I wanna tear them up.
Was concerned mono style projectiles might pencil through a fox at high velocity.
If that's the rifle in hand and I'm shooting pests, big or little it's gonna wear one of I do my part.
I'm not gonna hold back because the load cost an extra 50 cents, fuel is expensive, time is precious.
Mess or no mess I like them dead right there.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
