We just returned from our safari in Tanzania this past weekend. I got this buff on the 1st day of the hunt. He is estimated to have been 15 years old. Hunted hard 5 more days to get the Waterbuck. It was an incredible experience all the way around. I will write up a more detailed report if anyone is interested in hearing more.

Cheers,

Cecil Hammonds

Awesome old bull, love the shape! Congrats on the hunt!

What part of TZ were you in? How was the travel? with no testing requirements to enter TZ, did the airline you flew on still require it to be on their plane? I'd headed to TZ in 2 months, and am certaily curious about the testing part heading over, or hopefully lack there of.

What an ancient old bull! Congrats.

Hi,

We hunted in the Nalika Wildlife Management Area which is on the southern border of the Selous Game Reserve. Our camp was on the Mbarangandu River. We were 72 kilometers from the nearest paved road, and 6 hours from the nearest town. It was truly wild Africa. We had to take covid test before we left the US, and again once we arrived at the airport in Dar Es Salaam. Then, we had to take another test before we departed to come home. We flew on Qatar Airways, which I would highly recommend. We went through Doha, Qatar.

Hi,

We flew Qatar Airways through Doha to Dar Es Salaam. I highly recommend that airline. We had to take a test in the US before we left, and we were test again in Dar when we arrived. There is an online health assessment form you have to complete 24 hours prior to your arrival in Tanzania. Also, you can prepay for your required rapid covid test you have to take in the airport. It is $25, and we were out of there in about 15 minutes. From Dar, my outfitter put me on a commercial flight to the small town of Songea, where I was met and driven 6 hours to camp. Our camp was on the Mbarangandu river in the Nalika WMA which is on the southern boundary of the Selous Game Reserve. We got this buff very close to the boundary of the Selous. Our camp was 72kms from the nearest road. It was truly wild Africa. We could hear lions, hyenas, and hippos at night in camp. It was truly incredible. Not sure if you have been to Tanzania before, but If you would like to know anything else about the travel and getting around, I am happy to discuss with you.

Congratulations on your old stunner of a buff.

Congrats- this outfit made my final 3 during my buff research this past year. Great to see they are producing as advertised.

Great buffalo, congratulations.

That is a great buff, congrats !

Cecil, that buff is really beautifully worn down, nice and old. He will make an excellent nose up mount.
Yes please post all the detail.

Fantastic old Buff! Congrats!
The reason I am asking is i am very seriously thinking at Buffalo and Leopard with them. Did you see a lot of Leopard sign.
Yes and yes. They are 100% on leopard. I was very impressed with the operation. My PH was Koos De Wet; top notch.

Grand old bull, congrats!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
