Tattoos... advice from those so adorned

Chicks dig warts too. In the right place anyway. I think I read that somewhere once ... at a bus station ... in the restroom.

Agreed. The things I am considering I would be doing for myself and not viewable by others, unless I chose to show them. This is very much something I would be doing for me, and there are a number of possible things to depict that have been constants in my life, and always will be. The trick, listening to people here, would seem to be finding the right artist from the get-go.
Yep fully agreed, there are some truely talented artist out there and there is more than a few wannabes. Take your time, find the right tattooist and when it all comes together and you are in their shop you will know if it is right for you or not. There just isn't a wrong answer, just your answer.

An observation I picked up so far from all the comments is that in time the skin starts sagging and this could be useful if you are planning for it ahead of time.

1. Chose the location and orientation of the tattoo to align with the gravitational force.
2. Chose a tattoo that will adge well.

The cape buffalo was a neat idea if you think about it. Select a young bull with good horns and boss. Once the skin starts sagging, the horns will drop, the face and boss will wrinkle and it will start looking like a trophy old warrior. It will even save money in the future as touch-ups won't be required. The savings can be redirected towards a hunt for a real cape buffalo.
With skin sag I will eventually look like I am wearing a camouflage shirt LOL

This thread hasn’t gone as planned.
The OP posted for feedback from those in support so to speak.

Mmm, I wanna call a friend. There is one member I can think of of that is well qualified to respond.

I have been told they can be addictive.

I think after 7pages of comments a little thread creep should be acceptable.

I’m personally not a real fan of tattoos, although I have appreciated some of the art in certain cases. Also for people who really want to mark something absolutely mayor in their life I can understand where they are coming from.

As an example: I always thought that the only jewellery for a man should be a wedding ring, perhaps an engagement or college or family crest ring, watch, cufflinks and that’s about it. All those wrist bands, bracelets, necklaces (let alone piercings) and what not, not a real fan, yet since I hunted an elephant I’m wearing daily an elephant hair bracelet. It goes on my wrist before the watch.

But, my wife has two tattoos.
