The 9,3x74R...have any of you used it to take DG..?

We seem to have reached the point on this forum where someone posts something to which someone else takes offence by the second page.

The thread then gets hi-jacked as everyone else pitches in as to whether the first poster is ignorant and rude, or the objecting poster is overly delicate and ignorant.

Meanwhile, someone else starts a new thread and the process starts all over again.

The topic is not how one feels about the various authors and professional hunters of the past, but rather the cartridge 9,3x74R and its use for big game hunting.

Since I shot three buffaloes with it, I don't know why some people want to teach me. I am therefore well aware that you can shoot big game with it, but also the limits when it comes to using such cartridges. Since I and the most of you all unfortunately cannot longer have contact with the famous former users of such smaller cartridges for big game hunting, speculations are allowed as to why some of them swore by such cartridges so heavily. We are all human, and it cannot be ruled out that some of this hunters and authors also not liked too much recoil.

9.3x74R is a brilliant caliber with the right bullet and with a competent hunter it can comfortably take any of the big 5 and also hippo and croc.

With 300gr bullets at just under 2400fps it will outperform the 375 H&H with 300gr bullets at 2550fps. Doing so with much less recoil and at a much better velocity for the job.

In a Krieghoff or Blaser O/U regulation is easy to accomplish and it is also one of the top calibers for drillings as well as combination rifles.

Furthermore if you are hunting pg in a dg area with 1 solid and 1 soft loaded you are as safe as a baby in a crib and ready for anything from duiker to elephant.

Pity it is not legal in all African countries for dg.
