The Sako 9,3x54R

Civilianized Mosin-Nagants used to be common in moose hunts. Not anymore. Almost everybody has gone for more modern rifles.

This is so sad…..but quite the same in Germany,.... everyone has a Blaser R8, and the finest rifle ever, the Mauser M98 is nearly forgotten.

We should have a facebook group for the "Sako M39 Hirvikivääri" and it's 9,3x53R cartridge.

The friends of the 7x33 Sako have one,....."For oss som ønsker sako 7x33 tilbake i produksjon" ….. nice guys there.

Resurrecting this thread as I recently acquired one of my grail Sakos, the equally rare 8.2x53r Hirvikivääri. I’ve been after one of these for a long time. They are very svelte 7lbs and handle superbly. These got a lighter profile barrel that the big 9.3 versions posted earlier in the thread. Those were built from m/39 barrel blanks and probably weight at least a pound more. Here she is:

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
