This is flat out criminal. How can these sellers get away with this. Over $100 per pound. :mad::mad::mad:

Sad really..

Sorta like ticket scalpers sitting in the parking lot outside a sold out event..

Sure you can get in to see the concert... $1500 please..

As long as people are willing to pay it.. gougers are going to gouge..

Guns, dies, shell holders, brass and especially primers-its all crazy right now. Locally things seem to be mellowing out tho, powder dropped to more like $60 per pound

If/when you can find stull at the larger retailers like Cabelas, Bass Pro, Scheels, etc.. Ive only noticed a slight price increase (maybe 10% +/-).. which is probably being driven by the manufacturers and the distributers honestly, and not the retailers..

You have to keep an eye out.. but so far I havent had to pay crazy prices for anything yet.. and have been able to keep my reloading bench reasonably stocked..

I was in Scheels yesterday.. and found nothing at all that I needed.. but I did notice they actually had a decent selection of brass on the wall.. and a decent amount of hornady interbond and accubond bullets in probably 10 different calibers available.. as well as more factory ammo on the shelf than they have had in months (although still not a lot by any stretch)..

But the last time I was in there I managed to pick up 2 boxes of .270 barnes TTSX bullets.. as well as another box of .308 TTSX..

Primers and powder remain the biggest challenge.. Scheels has gotten primers in twice that I am aware of in the last few months.. but they were gone in a matter of minutes.. and to my knowledge theyve gotten no powder in.. Thankfully Im stocked up pretty well on both of those at this point (not a ton available.. but enough to get me by for a good while).. so Im not being forced to deal with the price gougers..

As was mentioned as long as people are willing to pay the price it will stay up there on auction sites like GB.

You would of thought that people would of learned 12 years ago the last time that a liberal got voted into the presidency. But this shortage started a year ago when the riots and all the other shortage started.

As for the price increases, most manufactures said that there was going to be around a 15% or so increase in components and ammo a few months ago.

It doesn't help the rush that Biden has stated he wants to end online sale of guns and ammo. But, like others have said, these people will continue to jack up prices as long as people are willing to pay. What drives me nuts is when my local shop receives a shipment, which he sells at regular prices, there's always a couple of guys that think they need to buy it all, literally waiting in the parking lot for the delivery truck. I've picked up a pound here and there at regular prices or a slight premium by watching, without being greedy. I've also picked up powders I've never bought before like Norma 203B which I find I really like for 30-06 and 375H&H. Primers are another story though. I started feeling a little desperate when I inventoried all my ammo and components and saw my primer count. Then I sat down and figured up what I had actually used over the past year and came to the conclusion I can hold out rather than pay the extortion money. I will gladly keep doing business with my local shop because he hasn't jacked prices, but there's others who have that won't see me again.

Now you guys know how it feels to be in the UK. We are always getting screwed on reloading components

The prices here where I live in Middle Georgia are not bad at all. I've purchased powder for $29.99 a pound. Primer are no where to be found. Ammo at Academy has not been bad either, if you can get there early enough to buy some. Only two boxes per person.

Man, that's ridiculuous - I've got a decent stash of Varget thankfully!

I have some good Cuban cigars I can trade you for some powder. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

If the guys in the states think they being screwed with ammo and reloading components try living in SA . Nearly all our reloading components are imported from the states and other overseas countries , with our crap exchange rate and import duties it is very expensive for us if we can get the stuff . On top of this our local gun powder manufacturer is not manufacturing at the moment , they seem to be battling with management and competency issues .

@PARA45
All I can say is that is,a bloody disgraceful. Words fail me. I hope we don't get to that stage in OZ . We still only pay $60 / pound for powder and $90 for 1,000 primers.

I saw one box of 7.5 shot federal top gun shells on a website, that claims they're cheaper than the dirt, for $49.00. I never bought from them before, and I never will.
@Biddleman
And here's me complaining that a block (250) of the same went up from 90 dollars to 100 dollars AUD for 250 rounds.
Bob.

Yes I bought some powders like varget, imr 4166, 4451, h4350 4955, rl23, n203b, and few others just to have it incase the liberals ban that too.I am good on primers and brass for what and how much I shoot. Right now I am in reduction mode on my fire arms. Getting ready for retirement in couple of years. Probably then start doing some hunting. May be one long trip to Africa. I grew up with water buffalo and drank their milk for 25 years. Been around them too much. They are more like a pet to me. Been around Elephants quit a bit. No desire to shoot them unless they kill humans. The cats different story.

Bob, I have a case of primers (5,000) sitting on the shelf with $62.80 stamped on it. What I can't find is anyone that has the Large Rifle Magnums (which I'm short of) and is willing to swap.

Clinton (the great primer shortage version #1), Post 9-11, Obama - we have see this all before.
But now with Biden + both houses of congress (though just barely) - on top of the pandemic, it's much much worse.

I bumped up reloading inventories last summer like I do before every presidential election. And again in December - that one just for my primary hunting powder. (Thank goodness.)

Still concerned for next year(s), not this year, I did a few backorders in January, before those were shut down. Two out of three have since hit (both for swift A-Frames). I'm in good shape, especially if that last backorder for a little more RL17 hits.

Since I started reloading in the 1970s, this is the first time I've seen even shotgun powders and primers dry up. My best SWAG is things will continue be difficult to spotty until the Dems get thrown out of office, again.

I think pandemic is affecting raw material supplies, hence the shortage. For example no one except Rotometals has shot (and at a higher cost than regular suppliers) and I have never seen that in the past.

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
