Trophy Room - start

Beautiful! I love the wood floors and wainscoting, excellent choice for wall color.

Congrats, can’t wait to see if finished.

Can we get a few dimensions? How high are the ceilings and maybe total square footage and any other pertinent measurements.
That rhino is great!

The room with the rugs is 15' X 15' and was a game/entertainment room. The opening off the hallway was original to the house.

The second room (Ferdinand's) is 15' X 20" and was originally a bedroom with entry at the end of the hall (Where the rhino skull sits). We eliminated the bathroom/closet gaining 5', walled in the door at the end of the hall, and opened the wall between the 2 rooms. I had planned a larger opening but gas, water, electrical, and AC lines limited us to 5'. It actually worked out OK because it provides more wall space for hanging.

The ceilings are all 9'.

We added the 12' X 20' balcony, and installed the double doors in place of existing windows.

All walls, including hallway, were taken down to studs, plumbing re-routed, and electrical outlets re-located to the baseboard rather than try to fit them into the panels.

Once the plywood was applied to all walls, we hung 1/4" sheetrock from 33" to the ceilings. The wainscot is a build up of 1/4" red oak ply, with 3/4" red oak for baseboards, rails, door jambs, and trim. The stain is walnut and the wall color is something we created. I think it worked.

We still need to lay the flooring in Ferd's room; we just got it yesterday, so it needs a few days to acclimate.

Right now I'm trying to get an idea of what else is coming and how to make it all fit.

Outstanding, I’m pretty much out of room in my enclosed 2 car garage and you have given me an idea or two.
Pins and needles to see the finished product!

Ok first of all...I'm in for the journey. Secondly, we need more topics like this on the forum. Third, I want to hear more about the carved leg bones and who did that for you? Any costs and time involved to get that done? If you would rather share that offline, just let me know. Thanks! Rhino looks great.
I believe those were done by Collet's, I will go back through my records and get you the details.

I have some giraffe leg bones as well, I'll post them once they're unpacked.

I think you were out of room when you started. What a great mix of trophies, thanks for sharing, that is a cool space.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
