US Federal Judge Strikes Down Masks on Planes and Public Tansit

We leave tomorrow for Barcelona on Delta.

I can not believe any American airline will defy the will of a sitting President, regardless the ruling of a single judge. Really bad politics. The administration will of course appeal.

Flew back from Buenos Aires a week ago. Three quarters of the passengers had the damned things hanging from an ear for most of the flight. The vast majority of us are over this. If the administration had a tiny bit of political sense, they would jump out ahead of this parade - not resist it. Fortunately, for the sake of the mid-terms, they clearly do not.

Joe will probably appeal and get the ruling stayed for review by higher court. I wouldnt get too excited just yet.
I sure hope not! It was a very upbeat attitude at the Atlanta terminal when it was announced tonight and everyone took them off when Whitehouse made the official announcement that TSA would no longer enforce

Delta no longer requires mask as of earlier tonight. They made it public a little bit ago.
WooooHoooo! Sometimes it is good to misjudge an airline.

United no longer requires masks on domestic flights and for international it depends on the entry requirements of the landing country. Thus you will not have to wear one on the way back. Not sure about going.

From what I just read, they are leaving the door open for appeal pending review of the ruling. Every time a court has made a ruling they dont like, they have appealed it.
Maybe this time they wont but I wouldnt bet on it.

That is exciting news. I sure hope there isn’t an appeal or stay. I’m flying domestic in a couple weeks and to Ireland in a month. It would be great to not have to smell my breath the whole time.

Wife and I were on a Southwest flight this evening from LaGuardia to Denver after visiting our son in upstate NY for Easter and halfway back it was announced that Southwest was no longer requiring masks. Several of us clapped and immediately removed outr masks. Several scaredy-cat libs kept them on. Good grief!!

That is fantastic news. I'm flying Alaska and United to Maine in a couple weeks and American coming home. Hope it doesn't change. I detest those damned rags. I've been stabbed and I had a two week case of severe covid in Feb. I took pix of my vax and hospital visits as proof I've been there, done that. I wouldn't wish that on anyone except politicians.

Same experience...both domestically and internationally...

We did a Bora Bora / Moorea / Tahiti trip about 8 weeks ago.. the majority of passengers simply "ate" or "drank" for the entire trip.. both from DFW to San Fransisco.. and on the SF to Tahiti leg as well.. My best guess is 3/4 of the people on the plane were unmasked for at least 3/4 of each flight.. and no one cared other than a pair of very obvious left coast folks in their mid 40's (nose rings, pink hair, hemp bracelets, che t-shirt, etc.. making overt "sigh" sounds and staying cuddled up against the window of the aircraft.. like that extra 4" of distance between them and the other passenger was going to make a difference)..

Also did a flight last month from DFW to Norfolk, VA.. probably 1/2 of the people sitting at the gate at DFW waiting to board had their masks hanging from one ear the entire time.. and the flight itself was no different than the flight from DFW to SFA.. For that flight, the American flight attendant was trying to play mask nazi for about half the flight, walking the aisle telling people to pull their mask up between bites and drinks, etc.. after being ignored by pretty much everyone for about 90 minutes I think she finally gave up and just stopped asking..

People are over it..

If you can stuff 60,000 people into a stadium for the Super Bowl and not wear masks.. or can have restaurants with 250 people in them.. with no one wearing a mask.. or.. have a FLIGHT where masks can come on and off at will (just eat a bite of that Bischoff cookie)... clearly there is zero reason to wear a mask at all... whether "science" supports wearing one or not..

People are dumb... but they arent that dumb.... and they are over the inconvenience..

If POTUS and his leadership team cant see that... Im actually cool with it... I'll put up with 7 more months of nonsense.. just to see how things shake out in the November mid terms as a result of it..

I loathe NPR...

but.. they provided a decent run down of all of the major US carriers position on the mask mandate (all are basically saying you now make the choice.. masks are not a requirement...)

The administration needs to do some political calculus about this. The travel/transportation industry basically gave Biden et al a collective middle finger. And except for the true believing, pearl clutching leftist dead enders, the American people are applauding.

Just moved to the top of the list as judge for the 11th Circuit in a Republican administration.
