WANTED: Looking For A South Africa Hunt 2018

New member here, I found the site in doing research for a hunt. I am in the beginning process of planning a hunt for 2018, I have a window from around middle of May until the end of June I can make the hunt work. I am fortunate to be able to hunt often around north American, but this will be my first African trip.

I am looking for a plains game hunt, Kudu and Gemsbok would be my priority as of now, I am sure that can change once someone gets on the ground. What I am NOT looking for is hunting on a high-fence property with a harvest and replace operation.

I would be grateful for any input. Thank you.

Welcome @2bgop. You will get a lot of of information from this site and members are willing to give good advice.
Please do not rule out a fenced hunt as most operations in SA are fenced concessions. The larger ones have self sustaining populations of game and are not a "harvest and replace" operation. Even the smaller concessions can be very challenging when the vegetation is thick and you do your hunt on foot.
Read some of the hunt reports and you will get an idea on how challenging some of the hunts can be.

Spear safaris operate on a 22 000 acre property in the drakensberg region of Limpopo RSA. Although it is fenced it is not a "put and take" property. Kudu are exceptionally good on this place with good Gemsbuck as well. There are also many other species to hunt. I understand your desire to hunt low fence....I did as well when I started my planning and was thus going to hunt Namibia. After talking to almost every Namibian outfitter at the Dalllas SCI show, I stumbled on a company in the Eastern Cape of South Africa that had over 90,000 acres.

The experience was nothing like hunting behind a high fence in Texas (the only place I can compare). I would recommend that you think about SA and some of the outfitters on AH and that you go to either Dallas SCI or SCI meeting to meet your outfitter...hard to beat a one-on-one sit down with the outfitter.
