Wanted Mauser Sporter 6.5 Swede

If you are going to buy a new rifle just check if the twist will allow the use of the long 160gr bullets they are devastating slow but kills clean and large game.
If you don't wnat to use 160gr bullets then no worries and shoot 140 grainers

@AO9
Why not just buy him a nice brand new Howa in the 6.5 Swede for 600 bucks

His FIL has very particular taste. He likes good scotch and built his own house to mimic old Tudor castles. Having a 100year old war horse in a good piece of wood will speak to him and get him in the field despite not being much of a hunter.

As a collector I have no issues cutting up military rifles for hunting purposes.
Its not like they are rare or anything ;o)
Ive come to love my Turkish Mauser as a good cheap way to get the "shoot old guns" fix without ruining the value of a well-preserved weapon

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
