What’s your hunting bucket list

My bucket list is still fairly long…

Africa - Sitatunga (doing this October), Bongo (doing in ‘26). After that the big ones are a Masailand hunt focused mainly on lesser kudu, then Ethiopia for Mtn. Nyala. Those 4 would give me all the spiral horns. Other than that, I’d really like one more good lion and another elephant bull or two. Beyond those, more buffalo hunts with my son. African birdshooting and fishing also.

North America - Bighorn (I’ve got 25 points in WY), another Desert Ram (got 27 AZ points & 25 NV points), want to try for my biggest elk ever, which will have to be around 390 or bigger (I’ve got 26 AZ points), then burn all my western points on mule deer, elk & pronghorns and I’ve got lots of points to cash in for all of them. Other than that I’d really like to hunt another Brown Bear on AK Peninsula and another big Alaska-Yukon moose. I might hunt Stone Sheep IF I get the bighorn as that’d complete my Grand Slam, but I’d probably not as I’d rather hunt elephants or lion for what a Stone Sheep costs now.

Europe, - roe deer & ibexes. Maybe a stag or brown bear

Asia - I’ve been interested in Kazakhstan for ibex, roe deer & Maral Stag. Would love to hunt sheep in Mongolia, any of them.

I’m 66, no plans to retire as I have no plans to stop hunting until my health or money gives out. Still have a lot of hunts to do.
You need to retire to get after all these hunts!
Good luck and stay healthy!

My list is more about the places than the prey. But here goes:

  1. Return to South Africa again in 2025 to hunt DG (Buff) in Limpopo as well as Kudu and a few others.
  2. Visit Free State to hunt a black Wildebeest
  3. Hunt Tanzania - possibly for a Lioness and Grants Gazelle among others
  4. Wyoming for Pronghorn and PD's
  5. Alaska - Just to visit the only US State I have not had the change to see. Hunting or fishing optional.
  6. Zimbabwe or Botswana to hunt - Quarry is flexible
  7. Bull Elk in KY

Hell yeah, go get ‘em!

Although life hasn’t been kind to us the last few years, depending on what life brings, my plans are:
Save in Zim for buffalo, nyala and bushpig +?
Buffalo with Dalton and York
PG with Hunter’s Namibia
PG with Jamy Traut again
Moose in Newfoundland
Black bear: A friend took a small one in Maine years ago. He’s not in the best of health and almost 80, but would like to take a nice bear. I’d like to take him on his quest.

Next month I am going Red Stag hunting in Argentina. That one is way up there.
Will also be looking for a Black Buck.

I left this off my list:
Harlequin, king eider, long tail duck hunt.

probably have to do it in Alaska.

I wish someone would try and set up a group hunt on Island X in the Bering Sea. Too much on my plate right now so I’ll just have to dream about king eider for now.
If harlequin are still legal to hunt in the Pacific flyway Washington is a good place for them. The east coast from the Chesapeake bay north is good for the long tail.

Get a lot of long tails here in the Chesapeake. I think the harlequin limit in Washington is still one per year. Alaska is the best bet for those.
