What are some YouTube videos that you would enjoy watching from the point of view of an African Outfitter?

I definitely like videos of hunts, but I prefer the videos that let you get a better understanding of outfitter and PH and how they hunt and why they made decisions. Some videos are too focused just on the hunter and the shooting.

That is something we will look at when we film with clients next. I think it mainly is because the client is paying for the video and camera crew in many instances so they focus more on him, and the outfitter may just have the rights to use the video for marketing purposes.

How do you prefer longer videos (45minutes +) or shorter videos (5 - 25 minutes)?

I enjoy hunting videos the most of those items listed, however, inside the hunting video itself, I really most enjoy just animals being videoed that aren't necessarily being shot. Seems the average hunting video goes like this: First 10% travel footage, next 10% shooting range footage, 10% accommodations, 50% actual hunting, mostly the stalk and the kill shot, 10% after-shot interview, 10% leaving/packing.

As such, I forward over all but the actual animal stuff. Bow hunting videos tend to include more animal footage, bc they are sitting around waterholes.

The reasons I watch African hunting videos: check out a new outfit, see the style and quality of the animals; observe the landscape (how many times do I see the fence, are the animals ear tagged, how does the PH maintain himself etc. Are there any interesting observations special about that area. I came to see the animals, not some guy talk about himself or his great shooting

Gear reviews tend to become advertisements for stuff I don’t need. There is one hunting show filmed entirely in Africa on tv I won’t watch simply because they spend ten minutes of every episode bragging up the guns they use. -sitting and talking for ten minutes about a gun I have no interest in-lame!

Very true, but you get product reviews for specific products, for the people looking to perhaps buy that item and not sure if its right for them. Thats more of the product review I was thinking of, not embedded in a hunting video.

Very interesting points. Something we will keep in mind in our future videos as well! I like the last sentence, its very true hahaha

Do you only review products you like and endorse or are you going to be brave and point out the products that aren’t worth owning as well? It’s a slippery slope

Those are fair points.

Would anyone be interested in seeing a wild game cooking show incorporated into the hunting shows, or as a separate episode just about different styles of cooking african game? Field to table kind of stuff.

Yes sir

I find myself willing to watch shorter videos but usually unless I’m really interested in the particular hunt or outfitter I don’t end up watching the longer videos.

Yep. I’d rather watch B roll footage of animals or landscape, with a voiceover. Than a guy sitting and talking.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
