My goal on my first trip was seeing the country, meeting people and bird shooting, thus, I didn't spend enough time at the rifle range. As a result, my performance on plains game was not what it should have been. I didn't anticipate the magic of the big game and the incredible work needed to get into position to make my shot. While I only lost one animal, one too many for sure, I missed several shots I should have made. It was embarrassing to me and to my PH and the tracker.
The other thing I would change was my turning down a shot at a really nice mountain reedbuck, that one still haunts me.
Oh, yeah, I wouldn't try shooting rock pigeons with my "girlie gun" as the bird hunting guide called it (20 gauge). I've never seen birds anywhere fly that fast and that hard to bring down.
