What would you do different?

My goal on my first trip was seeing the country, meeting people and bird shooting, thus, I didn't spend enough time at the rifle range. As a result, my performance on plains game was not what it should have been. I didn't anticipate the magic of the big game and the incredible work needed to get into position to make my shot. While I only lost one animal, one too many for sure, I missed several shots I should have made. It was embarrassing to me and to my PH and the tracker.

The other thing I would change was my turning down a shot at a really nice mountain reedbuck, that one still haunts me.

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't try shooting rock pigeons with my "girlie gun" as the bird hunting guide called it (20 gauge). I've never seen birds anywhere fly that fast and that hard to bring down.

you could always leave most of that apart from your camera and phone (actually attached to a lot of people these days i think ;)) and pretend it was pre 1995 or so......................:D

Hell, I'm still trying to live like it was 1975!!! But the rest of the world takes issue with it (esp. my platform shoes and leisure suits!:ROFLMAO:)

Seriously, it would be nice if it were an option, but now most of those "gadgets" are "necessities" anymore......anything I do for work anymore, I have to do via computer.....same pretty much with banking, etc. A lot of industry/business have done away with traditional things, such as "cash" (they want you to put it on a credit card....which I hate!) I wasn't issued paper airline tickets when I went to SA last summer....they were on my wife's phone.
.....and once you get used to it (whether you like it or not), you can't go back, even if you want to!

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
