Mark 4hd failed(zero)
2 Vx3i’s failed(zero)
Vx3hd failed(tracking)
Vxr failed (zero)

to put in comparison:
Nightforce nx8: rides in the back seat of truck, drove 28 hours to a bear hunt and rode around in a side by side on horrible terrain. Never lost zero or tracked wrong

Trijicon credo: fell 25ft out of a tree stand and landed on the scope. Maintained zero and tracked correctly.

Needless to say, I’m harder on my gear than most. But if you’re spending money on a hunt or drawing tags why not buy the best you can buy.
Leupold, Zeiss, vortex, Swarovski, Nikon have all failed on me
That’s a ton of failures! Like more than I’ve ever heard of!,,. Ever! Not buying what you are selling sir!!!

Dont Don’t do that! You still want a really nice scope for such a nice rifle…
Those three I posted along with a set of Talley rings and bases and you’ll be set forever!
I can tell you if you plan on hunting leopard, buffalo or elephant so many times you will have deep shadow or even dark…having an illuminated scope can make a big difference otherwise I have not found a need for one yet I hunt all three so I require one

For Hunting PG within 300 yards.

I would vote for the Swaro between the two mentioned. I have a VX6HD Patrol 1-6 on a M70 30-06 and that has been the scope I’ve been enjoying on hunting rifles.

I hunt a lot in west Texas where shots to 300 and beyond are very possible and never feel underpowered at reasonable hunting ranges.

Used to shoot a lot of long range with heavy rifles and high power FFP scopes and came full circle back to enjoying field of view and low power lol.

Maybe I’m getting too fat to carry a 17lb set up!

Right there with you! I just put a Leupold VX-6 Firedot on my 458

I had an old Weaver 3-9 on my pre-64 model 70... Compared to any of my other optics it was like looking through a haze at high power... It now wears a leupold VX-iii..

I have 6 of them currently and they all wear Leupolds.

Just me, but a scope description like “VX-5HD 3-15x44 CDS-ZL2 Side Focus HTMR” implies a level of gadgetry that I’m just not interested in. For plains game within 300 yards, which for me is 100% of plains game, give me a 2-7 or 3-9 variable. Hold the “CDS-ZL2 Side Focus HTMR” thanks very much.
I agree! My 3-9 variable was more than adequate in harvesting over 14 plains animals from 60-400 yds.

How about “K4”?

That simple enough?

Great choice! I think the VX5HD 2-10 is the modern version of the good, old 3-9. The firedot, 5 zoom range giving a bit more low and high magnification is worth it in a very reasonable weight and size.

I have a VX6 3-18x50 since 2014 that has treated me well and have put a 2-12 and a 3-18 on my Blaser R8 barrels.

I think the glass on the Swarovski is likely better but have heard too many stories of difficulty zeroing due to lack of windage adjustment range to discount them. Between that and the price difference, I stuck with the leupolds.

As long as you don't mind spending Z6i money, the 2x10 VX5HD is a less expensive that is a better option, IMHO

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
