Who's Flying Qatar This Year?

Just booked my last minute flights to Bulawayo for July paid $3k for economy both ways:sneaky: Qatar is not showing any upgrades available. Also booked my flights for Sept to Harare economy going business on the way back for $5k. Both with Qatar had a great experience last year flying both ways with Q suites, paid close to the same price last year as I did for economy this year. First world problems I guess.

Im flying from MIA to HRE with layover in Doha on August,,, just purchased a regular economy class ticket hopping to be able to upgrade. I had already the confirmation over the phone, but still I requested an email that was sent right away. FYI they told me at the airport check in desk that I am allowed to carry ammo (inside its secured box) inside me regular luggage,,, so I basically carry 1 suitcase with clothing and ammo and a second suitcase with the rifles
I wouldn't expect any upgrades.

When I flew over 2 years ago the plane was packed like a tin of sardines. I didn't see a single vacant seat in economy. That was on all 4 of my flights with Qatar. Dallas-Doha-Joberg and back..

We just flew back. PWP booked window and isle for my wife and I. Gambling that the odds favor fewer single travelers. It paid off. Two of us had 3 seats to ourselves. A very nice luxury

In 2021 and 2022 I had QSuite the whole way. I am guessing these are the A350's that were sitting due to the paint controversy and now returned to service with no updating.
Could be. The seats were lay flat seats with about everything else that a QSuite offers except the privacy cubicle dividers.

Yea I had the old business class on the Tanzania leg of my trip two years ago. It's fine but not QSuite.

Yes that is correct.

Cool!

We had an 8 hour layover you can buy Oryx Lounge pass they allow you 6 hours on that pass. Good food & drink & quiet for a nap or they have Oryx Hotel inside airport

That is good to know. My wife and I are traveling to Spain in December and have snagged AA business. I've only taken AA overseas business once before. It was when I was hired a couple of years ago to do some sheep consulting in the West Bank and Golan Heights in Israel. We flew to JFK then to Tel Aviv on AA and that crew and flight were horrible. On return we took BA to LHR and then AA LHR-DFW and that flight was fantastic. Nice DFW based crew and very good food although not comparable to Qatar just not the crap food and battle axe entitled flight attendants ay JFK! The seats on AA Flagship Business are fairly good.
I say all this to explain that my expectations are tempered on any other business class. After 4 trips in the Qsuite a person can get spoiled.
I just booked flights for a hunt next September on Qatar. I will fly "classic" business class except between Joburg and Port Elizabeth. Total, including taxes and fees $4900. I had to have a 20 hour layover in Joburg to get the lowest rate and will stay at a guesthouse, but well worth the cost for the savings of about $2,000
My best flight experience was on Emirates. I was going to Dubai to do some work for them. They flew me as an employee - in first class. It was absolutely awesome. I've flown millions of miles in my career. I've flown countless airlines, some pretty sketchy third world operations and some were great, but the Emirates flights were dramatically better than anything else I've experienced. I'm hoping that Qatar will be like that.

The hard product is great on Qatar, but the soft is better on Emirates. And the FA’s on Emirates are much better.

It will be great to hear of your thoughts on Qatar. Of course Emirates First is a different animal!

Sitting in the Doha boarding area for our last leg to JNB. Qatar airlines has so far been the most professional and welcoming airline I’ve tried for travelling with firearms.

Very friendly in Brussels when getting everything checked in, someone waiting for us as we got out of the buses after having exited the plane in Doha and into the terminal to take us to the security to make copies of our passports. Then at the checkin counter, all documents are there, no hassle and at the end even a smile and “Happy hunting!”

Kudos to them. If only they could fly direct! :)
