I’ve also never had an issue with “gaminess” even on big boars.

Me neither, although I readily admit that, just like all meat, including from fish and fowl as well, the younger ones are not as strong of flavor.
That said, even the toughest old boar swine, wild or domestic, still make fantastic sausage.

Also, anyone who’s never done a tracking hunt for pigs has no idea what they’re missing.

Once again, I am in agreement with you.
(Great minds think alike).

Largest wild pig I’ve taken, well over 300 lbs, near Red Bluff, California.

Is that rifle a Mosun- Nugant?

Awesome.
Yeah, but I'll just be boring, okay? There were two rifles in the real world, a Mosin and a Nagant. They participated in the competition, and the Russian Ministry of War purchased both rifles. The Nagant rifle remained only in museums, it was not produced due to the complex design of the bolt (2 screws for a screwdriver is unacceptable for a military rifle).

At first, the Mosin rifle was called correctly, but in the 20s, this name "Mosin-Nagant" appeared somewhere, and it stuck. So yes, this is the Mosin rifle, the most numerous rifle in the world. They were also made in the USA.

I’ve been seeing some new rooting in the fields near my house after they harvested the peanut fields. My hog hunting buddy decided to go out there a couple nights ago and saw a sounder of around 20. He ended dropping 3 hogs by 1900. I decided to go tonight hoping they be back. I got out there early around 1830 and set up with wind in my face, pointing east towards the woods. I started getting ancy around 1930 and as I headed towards the north down a road, I looked back and saw hogs coming out of the tree line. I doubled back to get in front of them. I stalked to within 150 yards or so, layed in prone position, hoping they come a little closer. The piglets starting coming my way but the bigger ones were in the back. I waited for a few minutes for a good shot on larger one and let her rip. Fun, quick night.
