My experience with Trophy Bonded Bearclaws on leopard is exactly the opposite of your view. I just shot a nice leopard 2 weeks ago with a 225 grain Bearclaw from my 338. The exit hole was the size of a quarter and the cat was dead less than 20 yards from the tree. Another leopard I shot with the same bullet years ago never took a step. The first leopard I ever shot was with a 180 grain Nosler Partition from a 300 Winchester. He was stone dead as he fell off the limb. The right premium bullet for leopard can be an excellent choice. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to use a Sierra Game King or Remington Core Lokt on a leopard as either would be excellent choices.

Cats are in a league of their own when it comes to nervous systems and proper bullet selection (as your story bears out.) The somewhat thinner jacketed, less bonded core, non-monometal bullets work wonderfully on 'em. Expanding to somewhat frangible. I'd even use the gen 1 Nos BTs or Bergers (non-hunting model) on cats as they'd do the trick well. It's the size of a big deer with a "lights out" upon proper shot nervous system design. Tried-and-true old bullet designs shine on cats! Robertson talks quite a bit about it in his 1st book. Aren't Nos PTs featured in Federal Premium ammo.? Hmmmm. LOL My favorite bullets for terminal performance inside 400-450 yds, excepting the large DG. I think this picture is worth 2,000 words... On the left is the aforementioned factory 270 Remington C-L in 375 recovered from my son's Buffalo and a 140 Nos PT in 6.5 recovered from my son's Aoudad at 430 ballistic yards (just shy of 500 yards up a cliff). I shot a dandy broadside the bullet exited asked my son if he wanted second best and 15 seconds later he made a perfect frontal shot with my gun. The bullet was collected inside the belly skin after passing through all organs, as it was angling down and looking towards us! I'd say both are premium performance. The difference is I'm not trying to sell you anything, just spouting wisdom from experience.

That Hornady 117gr RNSP is all I used in a Remington Model 8 in 25 Remington. That bullet at around 2200 fps hit brocket deer and javeli like Thor’s Hammer.

For long range.
225gn accubond and up to 61gn of Varget or up to 66gn of CFE223
225gn Sierra game king up to 70gn of CFE223
Both these loads will give up to 2,800 to 2,900fps

For more thump 64gn CFE223 and a 250gn speer hot core.
Up to 66gn of CFE223 and the old Hornady round nose smaller bearing surface so needs a bit more powder. This will give you 2,700fps
For the ultimate in penetration and thump out to 200yds a nice 310gn Woodleigh RNSP and up to 62gn of H4350, you need a long drop tube to get the powder in tho.
All these loads prove SAFE in MY rifle but start 3gn below and work up.
ALL these load produce in excess of 4,000 fpe of muzzle energy and let you know you are touching them off.

A 200gn a 3,000fps is just to much for deer you may want to eat unless you just want to eat the hind quarters.

A friend of mine tried a penetration test on a 2 inch thick block of lead at 100yds.
He shot it with an old No1 Mk111 in 303 loaded with 215gn Woodleigh RNSP. It penetrated said block of lead with half the bullet hanging out the otherside of the block. Velocity was just under 2,200fps. That a serious test on any bullet.

Use a gain twist barrel going down to a one in 8 twist a nice 450gn boat tail hunting bullet custom made by Berger and long throat it to decrease pressure and increase velocity. Should be good for a loooong ways out .

The early 200gn corelockt were designed foe the 350 rem mag for use on moose so they are a pretty tough bullet.
The old 225gn nosler sold base ( forerunner of the accubond) would be great as well.
Hell 35 cal just plain works anywho.

You forgot to mention to shoot at ranges up to 5 miles with the black plastic Trailmore, mounted with a nice 60 power scope. Don't want to big a scope incase you get a close in shot at a mile.
