Going through my number 4 Gun safe which has old rifles, shotguns, rimfires, knives, swords, and a few older military rifles, I came across this.

I’m not sure what it’s worth, but I’ll post it along with several older guns and gear I need to purge…

@NIGHTHAWK
Is it 351 Winchester self loading or 35 Remington.
Bob

Bob, 351. I think Mr Bell had one. Wasn’t that the parent for the m1 carbine?

I think the 1905 was in 35 WSL - Winchester Self Loading & the 1907 was the more powerful .351WSL, Hammer/Hamer of the FBI used one on Bonnie & Clyde, most of the old school bad guys used them with extended mags, alongside Thompson 1927 .45s .

I really like these old girls, had a 1910 .401Win bit heavy but cool old very Deer capable round !

All ours are now at the Tip because of Aussie Terrorist shooting up the local Muslims !

The more I think about it I believe you are right. Always wanted a 401.

Frank Hamer was my childhood hero. I think I have read everything that was ever written about him and had the honor to hold several of his firearms. Frank Hamer was a big Remington Model 8 fan. He carried one in 25 Remington for the longest and later went to the 35 Remington. He was actually using one with a 15 round mag during the famous ambush. Also, he was a Texas Ranger, never an FBI agent.

Safe shooting

Excellent, well I was going from memory & knew he had a flashed up .35 of some type lol

I had a Rem Mod 8 in 30Rem at one time & thought that was a 1905-1907 as well, got my wires crossed on the Rem - Win.

I was reading up on them back then (years ago) & remember underworld & law enforcement gunsmiths were fitting big mags & other mods.

FBI had them to but didn’t remember Frank was a Ranger, I wasn’t reading up on him but I’m sure he was something to.

I looked again Bob and it is the Self Loading Model, but .35 Cal.
It's a 35 self loader caliber. Not a 35 Remington. The Remington was more powerful, not really sayin' much, than the 35 Self Loader.
They were neat Blowback action action. Many had developed a crack in the fore arm due to the weight necessary for the blowback to work properly with the rifle.

I believe that Frank Hamer used a Remington Model 8 in the shootout, along with 5 other lawmen, that put an end to Bonnie & Clyde in Bienville parish north Louisiana, May 23, 1934.

As a 7 year old, my Dad took me to see the Bonnie and Clyde '34 Ford, on display in Baton Rouge.
The cops shot the hell out of that car and those criminals. I think 120 rounds.
Made an impression on me to this day.
