Winchester Model 70 or Blaser R8

It won't matter. I have both. Love my R8's but they are crazy over priced. $2000 rifle with a $3000 advertisement campaign.

Anyone can work on a m70. If a Blaser is screwed up you just replace very expensive parts.

I mostly use my Blasers but only because I like the safety better.

You don't need a Blaser to kill anything. I don't know if it is a big game rifle or not, but a lot of guys are using them for dangerous game. I don't know that I would do that.

M70's are cheaply made, and nothing is custom on them. A Blaser might have better manufacturing but not by much.

I am a super Blaser fan, but I can't honestly tell you how much better or worse than a m70 it is.

I think you will get great accuracy out of both. I own both. I prefer the safety system on the Blaser. I will not hunt with a round in the chamber with a Winchester. I will with a Blaser. It is also super convenient to travel with due to takedown size.

I’ve found that the Blaser scope mount system returns to zero reliably. After heavy travel a rifle with a fixed scope may have to be adjusted. I’ve not had to adjust my Blaser since the scopes travel in my carry on bag or backpack. That consisten repeatability is of significant value to me.

So, the incremental improvements add up to a rifle that is 4-5x the cost. I no longer use my Winchester or Kimber rifles, they have been in the gun safe since I got into the Blaser system.

Finally, a Blaser will work great for DG. I’ve taken 11 DG with my R8 and had no issues.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
