I’ve never seen a wild bear close up nor am I in any way claiming to be an expert so it is just my two cents here:
The predators go for what seems to be the easiest target. The lions go after the calfs, the caracals after the lambs, if any animal is injured it goes first.
I’ve seen numerous times in parks where the predators are totally focused on the smallest person which most of the times have been children. Often have I thought- Yeah, you think it is cute that they look at your kids because they like the kid - If you only knew how much this lioness likes your kid...
The saying- I don’t have to run the fastest, just faster than the slowest, would come into play. Women are usually smaller so that is my theory for the interest from the predator.
If you see some predators, bend down or squat and see how the focus changes.
